Bill, you truly are a throwback to the quality of writers who used to cover the Flyers beat in the 70s and 80s. |

Somewhat surprisingly the Hockey News predicts Flyers to finish 3rd in the Metro behind the Caps and Canes.

Yeah. I just see him as a dime a dozen player who has pretty much peaked in his development. IE a tweener prospect who is above average at the AHL level and barely a 4th liner at the NHL level.

Correct u missed the sarcasm
He is not an every day nhl player. When people put his name in any lineup I crack up. Bust of a 2nd rd pick |

With the Flyers top 3 C’s set how they are, and if Frost can’t get that 3rd line spot, it makes me wonder what’s gonna happen with this log jam.
I’m sure I’m just being impatient because I want to see this kid get his shot, but does he really have any chance at becoming a center any time soon? Would it take Patrick being a bust, because Coots and Hayes have 1/2 locked up for the foreseeable future. I think Patrick deserves more time as he’s only a kid. A lot of fans wanted to run Coots out of town before he got his shot to play with top end talent, and we see what happened there. He matched his fantastic defense with a nice, solid offensive game. 20 year olds deserve a little longer if they show skill.
So where does that leave Frost as a wing? Will Lindblom have to crap out and then we’ll see after re-shuffling? I don’t want that. I like Lindblom just fine for what he is. Will Voracek have to go? Are we going to sit and wait to see who gets poached by Seattle? Even then I think they take whomever is left off the list between Provy, Sanheim, Ghost, and Myers unless a deal is struck.
So if Frost doesn’t claim that spot this year, where will that opportunity come from? Maybe he’ll have to be an injury call up who earns his roll by playing too well to be sent back, I dunno.
I’m just not sure about the 4th line even being an option with a player like him. Unless maybe you wanna try something unconventional and put both he and Farabee out there together. Now you’re not really running a checking line out there at all. Yeah. I don’t see that happening. |

It seems like they’d like to bring Frost up, they even think he’s most likely ready to be a middle 6 guy, they just dunno what else to do. So they’ll sit him in the AHL for a year and call it development (which it is, ofc) and hope something comes their way in a deal where it frees up a roster spot sooner or later. |

Even before they signed Hayes I believed Frost would be a wing at the NHL level. His speed is perfect for it.

Fine by me. Seems that’s the way he’s gotta roll.
So where does the opportunity open?
I agree it looks like Pitlick could get the nod initially. Do we wait for an injury? A person who gets in the doghouse and becomes a scratch?
We’ve got ourselves some nice wingers in addition to our C’s.
I know I’m just being impatient. Obviously a lot of Flyers fans want to see Frost and Farabee play. Hey, you can’t complain about having too much young talent, right? Just antsy, is all. Plus it’s August and I’m ready to see some damn hockey.
I do have an inkling in the back of my head that Jake could be traded for cap relief by getting picks/prospects within a year. He just turned 30 a couple of days ago. There is still value there. |

Out of Frost, Farabee, Ratcliffe, Rubstov, I think we see at least one, if not two of them up with the big club by January.

It depends on how well Frost develops. If he takes off as a player. He either replaces Patrick if he doesn't develop or Hayes moves to wing. I'm talking long term, not just this season.

Agreed. The Flyers seem comfy at C. I’m cool with it.
We have quite a few of those young talented wings, though.
The only way they all play would be to run a 4th line with all kids. Laughton, Farabee, and Frost. It’ll NEVER happen, of course. Although you can’t say you wouldn’t be glued to the screen if they did. We’d have lofty hopes of a Tampa Triplets line. Again - not saying there is any reason to do that. Snowball’s chance, yknow |

Long term, I’m with ya. You hope Patrick develops and earns that 2nd C, and Hayes moves over in a few seasons.
Sooooo, Jake or JvR moves on I suppose |

Lance pitlick doesn't inspire a lot of confidence; the fact he is an option for 3rd line is not good at all imo.
I personally think Farabee will win that spot. |

The next two-three years is where things are going to get real tricky with working these forward prospects into the lineup. Lots of prospects but with the way our NHL forward's contracts are lined up maybe only a few roster spots will be open. |

I feel like Patrick is gonna need help to make those next steps. Yeah, he’s got a LW for sure.
Does Pitlick help him develop more or less than one of Farabee/Frost/Rubtsov
Nothin against Pitlick, of course. He’s a solid NHLer. I’d be more than happy to have him starting on my team. We just have a ton of exciting potential, and I’m itchin like a dope fiend in need of a fix. |

it will all work itself out as it usually does. They will find spots for whoever is good enough. |
