Bob Duff: Svechnikov to make long-awaited return Forward Evgeny Svechnikov will see his first action in a year since tearing his ACL as the Detroit Red Wings open the NHL preseason Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks.

“It just brings a lot of stuff in my head and what I went through,” said Svechnikov told Mlive.com.

I like that Hirose kid, had a nice game last night. Excellent stick and great vision. I think he will make the team and some pp time.

Got a good look at Hirose last night. He is a keeper for sure. Great hands and looks great on the power play. He'll be in the lineup opening night if he stays healthy. Might need to add some bulk to his frame, but he's an NHL player. Definitely a hidden gem that didn't cost us anything.
