Not the prettiest win, but most of the vets that needed to make some noise, did. Jake actually looked inspired out there, and Hayes did a great job putting that empty netter in from so far (bloody nose and all).
G looked like himself again. The first line is already clicking, and Frost is fitting right in. Elliott battled through and came up big for us when he needed to.
I'll take the regulation win. I was worried they were collapsing in the third, and we'd be heading to OT again, but the guys gutted it out. Refs needed to let the teams play. Too many bs calls. |

Kevin Hayes, who ended a 10-game point drought with an assist in Florida on Tuesday, later sealed the win with a long-distance empty net goal (5th) in the waning seconds of the third period. - bmeltzer
FLOODGATES BABY!!!
But really, that was a great game from Giroux, the kind of night he needed. Also, Voracek seemed much more dialed in. Still need more output from both him and JvR as well as Hayes, but baby steps. And man, Frost has some good hands in tight spaces.
I actually turned the game off in the first after those 2 goals by Carolina. I know Aho is great, but Elliott didn't look sharp at all on those 2. Agree with Bill he came up with some big saves later on and had no shot on the 3rd goal.
This was the kind of game where, after giving up 2 early soft goals, the team would have folded up its tents the last few years., but they battled hard last night and got rewarded. Hopefully they follow it up with a few more. |

So did frost reignite Giroux last night?
Giroux with a monster game!
Or is it that line?
Kind of odd you place a brand new rookie on a like and his teammates get better and goals get scored
I couldn't imagine a better start to a career for frosty!
Those hands of his 😍 |

Missed the game but from highlights and reports, it seems it was a very encouraging win. Glad to see g with the monster game, and wow on frost. I didn't expect this right off the bat. He's been great and has added another level of skill that we need.
Some guys just click when they get to the show. Hard to explain, but the game just suits them. Hope this is the case for him. Well done kid!

G is at his best when there is a 48 nearby. What a game. |

Frosty looks good but konecny seems to be the straw that stirs any line he’s placed on. He’s just been tremendous.

Konecny has been a monster all year, no matter who he plays with. That goal where Frost made a nice feed to Giroux wouldn't have happened without Konecny busting his ass to get to the puck first and getting it to Frost.

I think it is just a good combo of speed and skill. Frost did the G, went to the AHL for a bit and came up, hope he sticks.

I said before I hoped frost was one of those players that performed better with better players. Was a little worried based on what the reports said about his play away from the puck. Yes two games is a very small sample size but last game his skill really showed playing with tk and g. In preseason and in both games the kid had a bunch of chances. Glad to see he is putting them in. Confidence boost.
On the other hand ghost has been pretty non existent. People say he is trending in the right direction. Well I don’t see it. Again his ice time is starting to sink as Myers and sanhiem are taking more responsibility. |

Well Giroux's first 3 points had little to do with Frost. Didnt see the 4th but assuming that had more to do with Frost
-Goal off a sneaky pass by Konecny
-Assist on Provorovs PP goal
-Assist Shorthanded off a faceoff win

Anyone else think of briere with frost wearing number 48 with that quick release and deceptive plays. |

dare i say frost remind me of Giroux? obviously way early on in his career of course |

Missed most of the game at a long awaited night out, but still saw lots of great play by the YUTS....have to go back to 2 different modern era Flyers teams for that kind of hustle and playmaking....oh and finishing...
Encouraging to see talent in action, and a coach/gm who are actually following the plan of moving people back and forth from the AHL, fitting pieces together etc. The ice time in retrospect was a little weird due to 11 f/7 d configuration. Not a plan for a full season..
There is hope as the YUTS learn their craft.
Please do not make Braun the new boards AMAC. |

Frost has said Giroux moved him a bit before the faceoff and Giroux won that clean on a tee for Frost. Seem to catch Mrazek off guard |

Farabee is scuffling a bid. as much as I am not a fan of a line of JVR-Hayes-Voracek, I would like to see Farabee with Lindblom and Couturier for a bit to see if that can get him back on track. Keep the G-Frost-TK line alone of course and Laughton centering Raffl and Pitlick.
imagine Patrick in this lineup |

Tk and Coots have been the two best forwards through the first quarter of the season. |
