The Leafs are going to love Clifford! This guy was the heart and soul of the LA Kings and will be missed greatly. He is exactly the type of tough player the Leafs need and the guy can really play. He surprises me with his scoring sometimes.

Campbell is an upgrade, solid backup that can actually stop something. Adding Clifford I am stoked for. Always liked watching him in LA, hits and works hard, and will be a very nice addition.
Kings get a hard working fast guy who won't back down and should be a nice addition there too. Plus the picks work to help keep shifting to youth and speed.
Honestly think it is a good trade for both sides |

Sounds like he’s right on par with what Blake has been trying to do with this rebuild - fast legs |

Same here. He’s a great addition for a team looking for a hard working big body that plays physical. Toronto was out-hit by Florida the other night by something like 30-10.
Perfect timing to add him around the playoff push. |

Excited to see how Campbell looks with a team like Toronto in front of him. I thought he played great given the situation in LA. Should be cool to see what he does with a talented squad. |

Have you seen the Leafs D though? All the talent is up in their Forwards their D is still abysmal. I have always liked Campbell as a Goalie but he's not going to get much help with that D line in front of him.

That’s a good point. They’re loaded up front but lacking on the backend.

If Reilly, sandin or muzzy get injured in leaf team, watch out. They d is not that great even though Ceci has been better this year than in the past. |

Agreed. Not really sure how any good goaltender would perform behind that defense? The Rangers were skating freely through the neutral zone and the Leafs zone pretty much at will last night. Their defense is atrocious. |

Exactly, Freddy Anderson is a top teir Goalie and his numbers behind that D are 2.87 GAA and .910sv% hardly positive outlook. |

I like how the 21 3rd becomes a 2nd if Clifford re signs or if Campbell wins 6 regular season games and TOR makes the playoffs. |

we need to take the red dog colored glasses off for a minute. He was a fan favorite but he was also being way over used this year. His departure frees up a coveted roster spot which is more valuable to the team right now than anything he's bringing. He doesn't hit very much anymore because of his glass jaw, he over handles the puck at every opportunity (he's basically a poor man's Dustin "Falling Down" Brown), and he just isn't an intimidating force on the ice anymore. My thought is he was forced on the Leafs which is why the Kings had to retain salary... |

I disagree with this entire premise. I can't recall any games where he wasn't effective on the ice. Additionally I don't think he was forced on anyone. I think the Leafs really wanted Cliffy (and they should). The Kings don't care about a roster spot for the last 25 games of his current contract. That's crazy talk. |

Maybe we have different definitions of “effective.” He’s a fan favorite, I get it. He should not stick handle more than it takes to receive and dump the puck to start a forecheck. Drives me nuts when i see him out there with Carts. He’s washed and taking a roster spot that might be a reigns player to show themselves for a couple dozen games. |

How was he effective when his role was to hit and fight and add energy and he only did one of those three and wasn’t very effective at it? He was awesome until Reaves blasted his chin off his face, then he slowly started to decline to the point he never fights anymore and barely hits, and when he does it’s an ok hit.
It baffled me seeing all the kings fans over on the insiders blog crying saying Blake made a panic move, Kings got robbed and the best of all, Clifford should have got a higher draft pick. He’s a career 4th liner who’s best season was 21 points. If he’s not hitting, fighting or producing then what’s the point in keeping him? I am surprised he got a 3rd and I highly doubt he gets re-signed in Toronto so the Kings better hope Campbell gets 6 wins and Leafs make the playoffs.
Also I read the Leafs were trying for Martinez but they couldn’t work it out to fit him under the cap so they went with Clifford to add some kind of grit. |

It's a great thing he's been getting use to that in LA. He should be fine in TO if he doesn't let the TO fans get in his head. |
