this is one of greatest nights in Rangers history, video is grainy but, it was the 9-3 trouncing the Rangers gave the Flyers to sweep them 3-0 in first round of 1983 playoffs.
If you watch, notice how ridiculously dirty the Flyers are the entire game, and how loud the Rangers fans are at the end of the game

Speaking of dirty Was watching a collection of Ron Hextall nasty plays. What a dirty SOB. I remembered the Chris Chelios 89 incident. I also remember the unending “HEXTALL” chants at the Garden

Our first dog we got together was a Mastiff/Neufie mix that drove me crazy. She was dumb as a stump but didn't have a mean bone in her 120 lb body. She showed her love for me by chewing my boots, sneakers, hats, etc. Never anything of my wife's. I called her Hextall. My buddy who is a Flyers fan got a good laugh out of that.
Remember the NHL ad with the orange sweater clad goalie mopping the floor? Pokecheck!

Hextall was a nasty DOB
I couldn't blame him for going after Chelios though, I can watch some of the dirtiest hits in NHL history, but that one he threw on Propp just really bothers me

Agreed. For me re watching the Domi on Niedermeyer hit in the 2001 playoffs gets me and I hate the Devils but Niedermeyer wasn’t even a dirty player or engaged in anyway w Domi. It was just a gratuitous sucker job when he saw the ref wasn’t looking.

That was a terrible hit, and Domi's punchably smug face didn't help either.
Tucker did something dirty in that series too, forget what it was.
Maybe I'm thinking about the hit to Kariya that should have taken him out of the game, but he came back and scored a goal.

you know, I think this year's Rangers powerplay was it's best since this team
The '94 Rangers at times had an unstoppable powerplay and from February this year until the stoppage, I'd say this year's team was right there - jimbro83
Leetch & Zubie just owned the opposition on the PP. The PK in 94 ws tops too for much of the yr

97 would like to have a word with you. Honestly if that year our PK wasn't atrocious, we probably win the cup.

The 97 group ws depleted by injuries by the time they got to Philly in the ECF - B2B76
Oh I know that too. Still doesn't negate the fact we bled goals on the PK. We actually finished pretty much bottom of the league in that stat. Inexcusable for a team that had that much talent, even with bums like Driver in the lineup.

when I think of the '97 team I think of Richter's insanity in the playoffs and Tikkanen's overtime goals
but yeah, Gretzky was a wizard, we should have had one more year of Messier/Gretzky - jimbro83
Leetch got plastered by Trent Klatt in Game 2 and was useless the rest of the series w a separated shoulder. Kovelev & Sundstrom were already gone w injuries. We had Bill Berg playing top 6 minutes. Shane Churla, Langdon & Dallas Eakins all playing when maybe 1 of them should have been due to injuries. Ken Gernander dressed for a game or 2 as well.
