I’d love to see the Islanders acquire Gusev, but not at the cost of a 1st.

Perhaps Aho, Ho Sang and a 3rd?

Option 1 revisit the Parise trade in the summer or Option 2 go after Hoffman or Hall in summer.

Honestly, I don't think the Devils would really consider that offer. Aho and Ho-Sang are both 24 now and neither has cracked an NHL lineup yet. Another team would definitely be willing to pay more if he was available.

I think if teams get a compliance buyout, the Islanders use theirs on Ladd and the deal falls through.

My vote is for free agency.

I also think Wahlstrom can be that guy if used on the top 6 not 4th line like he was earlier in the year. I agree if trade can't be made buyout Ladd.

I would like the team try an obtain W. Karlsson from LV and he either move to LW of have Barzy move to RW like Marner and have a very fast 1st line

Ben, first thank you for taking my idea and running with it. I truly appreciate your efforts. Second, thank you for pointing out to my fellow Islanders that have been so critical of Lou, that this isn't as cut and dry as they make it.

The bottom line here is that if this team truly wants that elite winger, they are going to have to give something of substance to get it. You also have to make the decision is of is it worth it to get Barzal that tool to be added to complete the line. Or once again not sacrifice some of the future for the present.

Last thing you need is adding more old forwards, way past his prime who's under contract for years.

1 top 6 forward added isn't delivering a cup. The core is not good enough.
