Blues will sign Pietrangelo. Jaybo is off the books. So is Scandella. So they won't want to cut bait with Faulk. It's also rather expensive. If they get a free buyout they likely use it on Steen. Gives almost the same cap relief as Faulk, but costs way less actual cash. Faulk is far more valuable to the team than Steen. Overall their cap situation is pretty healthy with guys like Tarasenko, O'Reilly, Parayko locked up to very friendly deals... |

You completely missed the point. That’s why the “ifs” are there. It’s meant for fun. |

Rumors have it the NHL may potentially allow a buyout period once the stoppage resumes. Essentially teams wouldn't be penalized against their cap space for two compliance buyouts. I think even the NHL was uncertain if the buyout would be immediately upon the return of the season. Or if they were to wait until the offseason.
Rumored players who may be bought out:
(list put together after searching multiple sites) Also I would love to see a lot of these players in a Penguins Jersey. I would hope we would wavier a few players (cough cough Sheary) to get a few of these players on Pittsburgh for the playoffs/a one-two year run.
Henrique and Backes ANA
Lundqvist and Staal NYR
Eriksson, Sutter, Ferland, Baertschi, Beagle Canucks (they have a lot that they may look into cutting)
Neal and Russell Oilers
Okposo and Skinner Sabres
Alzner Canadiens
Seabrook Chicago
Kessel Coyotes
Moore Bruins
Lucic Flames
Gardiner, Niederreiter, Staal Hurricanes
Erik Johnson Avalanche
Wennberg CBJ
Cogliano Dallas
Bjugstad and Schultz Pittsburgh
Ladd NYI
Abdelkader and Nielsen DET
Bobby Ryan and Boedker OTT
Rask and Parise MIN
Drouin MTL (this was a surprise name)
Wood, Schneider and Subban NJD
Turris and Rinne NSH
Carter LA
Johnson TB
Justin Faulk STL - 123Kid
This was posted in a pitt board awhile back. I’m sure not all names make sense, for one schultz is a ufa this year, but ‘if’ these rumblings were true there would be some decent garage sale shopping. Faulk, J staal, Johnson (TB), drouin. |

Yes I get it's just for fun. I'm simply saying the scenario isn't that realistic once you actually deeply analyze the Blues roster. But that's fine. It's all for fun. Maybe they buy out Tarasenko. It would be fun to sign him. |

For fun I’d like to to see Logan Couture move to Detroit. Dependable center, leader, gets his nose in it. He my fit into the youth movement maybe stir the ship a bit? |

Oh man, that’s a cool one. I remember he and little Joe giving us fits. Those guys are gritty |

Johnson, that’s one I’d wondered about while TB struggles with their cap. Schultz, that would be cool. He’s got a couple cups now so “winning” may not be his motivator. Jordan Staal. What a beast |

Faulk would be OK to acquire. But nowhere near his current deal.
If no buyout occurs, you could acquire him with a 2nd (Caps) and Svetch, if StL retains some salary. |

11 current roster forwards are RFA or UFA by 21-22. As well as 4 current D men. 15 contracts to be looked after as well as the expansion draft. I’m not the only one to suggest that Faulk could be bought out. It is for fun, and I did “analyze” the roster. You don’t seem to like the stuff I write, I understand that. I believe in free speech, so you’re in your right. Just not much fun to have someone be so negative all the time |

I wouldn’t touch his current deal. So much happens to a d man between 28 and 35. I mean a minimum type contract post buyout. I wouldn’t give up a draft pick, for sure |

Having this many contracts come due is a blessing. Not a challenge as you've made it out to be.
I'm not disliking your writing, but sometimes I'm not sure it's well thought out. Seems people are doing this buyout exercise and just picking the worst contract, without recognizing team depth, nor the financial implications to ownership. So just because others are saying Faulk will be available, give it more thought. For those reasons I expect Faulk to stay and Steen to get bought out. I'm in the industry and pretty knowledgeable about every organization. But sorry if you don't think I'm fun. I'll post less. |

I’d appreciate it. It’s personally insulting to have you say things like “it’s not well thought out”. I would hope an “industry pro” would have more courtesy for peers. I guess not |

I applaud your attitude, I got kicked off WIIM after being there for 8yrs for defending Don Cherry and free speech. Too much of the PC police there, but when they stuck to RW hockey, they were excellent. |

Faulk buyout is very unrealistic for multiple reasons. Current Blues ownership group have never approved a buyout. Blues have multiple other players they could move/buyout to open up the needed cap space; Allen has trade value, Steen can be bought out, Bozak can be traded or bought out. And Blues GM has consistently proved his ability to include bad contracts in trades by adding draft picks.
You might as well just suggest Red Wings sign Pietrangelo as a UFA to a super team friendly deal. It's about as likely as Faulk being bought out by the Blues then signing a "minimum type contract" with the Red Wings. |

It's his opinion. He's entitled to it. As are you. I give Jeremy a ton of credit writing blogs while there's no hockey. I don't agree with everything he says. But I do appreciate that he always tells us why he is saying it. We have a very good blogger here.
Bob Duff was horrible. I certainly don't want him back here. That guy added absoIutely nothing but plagiarism. I just don't want to see people piling on Jeremy. Criticism is fair. But there's a proper way to do it. Jeremy is a good guy. I'm not. Save your fire for A holes like me. 😂 And I fully admit I'm a huge hypocrite. 😉 |

Good grief. I prefaced the “long shot of signing” in the article. Also, compliance buyouts are completely different and would be due to stagnant or declining cap. It changes everything. |

Some people can’t help but to be negative, regardless of what is posted. I personally like the idea and it gets people thinking. Ignore those kind of responses and it’ll go away.
Faulk has always been one of those D men that we’ve needed since # 5 retired. I’d swoop him up in a heartbeat. |

No, it doesn't. Complaince buyouts cost the owners the exact same amount as regular buyouts, the only difference is how it effects the cap. And Blues owners aren't willing to pay a player to not play for them. If the cap is stagnant or goes down, the Blues have much more realistic ways to deal with it. |

I tried suggesting a Faulk buyout wasn't realistic and was labelled as negative. Sorry. Just realistic. Tom Stillman is not going to write an EIGHT figure cheque to get rid of Justin Faulk. Doug wouldn't even dare ask him to do it so close to actually signing the contract. Doug knows he'd risk his own job by asking to undo this deal. So the Blues will find another way. As I said if the only option is a buyout, Stillman will write a modest cheque for Steen. You have to know the people involved rather than just highlight the worst contract on each team. Oh well. Just trying to bring a very analytical perspective... |

Watching old videos on YouTube isn’t the same but it does show you how far the Wings have fallen. Those were the times that we didn’t overpay to keep dole players such as, DMac, Lapointe, Ward, etc. good team guys but not worth the overpay that happened when leaving.
Say goodbye to a few this year and hopefully a few more next. Stevie has us on the right track for years to come. |
