Its really amazing how great our recent scouting of quality goalies has become. Witness:

Hank drafted 7th round
Shesty 4th round
Georgi Undrafted FA
Wall 6th round
Huska 7th round

I wonder how much input Allaire has into these selections?

Honestly scares me that Allaire would retire soon and Hank likely takes over as goalie coach. The dude has made even crap goaltenders seem elite with the backups we've had and traded away.

I hate to pick on things but, seeing all of our depth in net it’s even more mind boggling that this org wasted that second rd pick on Linbom. He could turn out to be really good, but it still was the dumbest draft pick they made in the last few years. They didn’t need another goalie, so dumb I can’t get past it

I hear you TJ --- but so many don't pan out and Wall ( what a GREAT name for a goalie! ) wasn't a sure thing to sign an ELC. If they all become starting NHL material, then we have a strength to trade from.

Wall posted a 1.49 GAA and a .940% in his draft year so I’ll give him credit where it’s due but it’s still surprising any team would draft a goalie out of junior B

What a great name for a goaltender, if he can deliver. If not, it backfires as a joke. Congrats and good luck, Tyler.

with 6th and 7th round picks I dont get surprised by stuff like that

like was said though, it just makes them using the 39th overall pick in 2018 on Oscar Lindbom even more frustrating, just knowing that this team picks diamonds out of the rough with goalies in that later rounds

Who'd NYR pass on to draft Olaf? Any guys already making a name for themselves in Pro?

the one that stands out is Jack Drury

he went three picks later to Carolina, and his uncle Chris was part of Rangers management team at the time, makes it even more astounding

he just had a sophmore season at Harvard where he had 20 goals in 28 games

Kirill Marchenko at 49 to Columbus looks like heck of a prospect too

Thanks.

They had Georgi, and Shesty in the food when they picked him too. I get taking a chance on a player you feel is better then rest at that position, but a goalie in the 2mr round, who probably could of been had much later!?

Georgie was still unproven and Shesty was rumored to not want to come over. If they felt he was the best goalie on the board at the time and felt others would draft him before the 3rd it makes sense

That's what I was getting at. We have no idea what was going on on the draft floor. Only thing is that if you draft a goalie that high, he better at least play in the NHL at some point

I didn't like the Olaf pick at the time --- the guy I wanted was drafted by the Fishsticks 2 picks later ( Bode Wilde ). If the Rangers had him as the best player available, I can't argue. I guess I just can't get too upset with a 39th pick. Its not like they took him 7th overall...
