Carol Schram: Markstrom's new mask & potential AHL call-ups if the Canucks return to play
Jacob Markstrom has a new 50th-season goalie mask ready to go, which makes the possibility of a return to play seem much more real. Which injured players and AHLers would the Canucks lean on to supplement their roster if and when they get back on the ice? - Carol Schram
Thanks for the updates,
I like Markstroms new mask as well, anything is better than the ear mask. I also hope he stays with the Canucks, he was playing fantastic before his injury and the shut down, or "pause".
interesting read and breakdown of how Rafferty uses his skill set, he actually addresses the defensive coverage questions and what he's doing to grow and improve.
After hearing Markstroms last interview about him wanting to be here and his heart is here I think it is just a matter of time. I like the new mask and I take it as I am here to stay.
BTW It sure does beat the hell out of his big ears mask
I am not sure what they are talking about seeing he was mostly in the other teams end. - VANTEL
You have been cautious about saying he should get a look but I agree I am not worried about his defensive abilities. I feel like he's creative enough offensively to compliment the D core. The SH rush goal is a good show of a defenseman using instincts to create a chance( he knew he had space to skate) and then beats the d-man using a backhand toe-drag. I think he should get a look.

Given the current upheaval & pending UFA’s & RFA’s I see him on the team.
When I read something like that from a beat reporter who doesn't watch the Comets regularly, I assume he has heard it from someone within the Canucks organization. If that's what they think about his play, I think they'll be hesitant to bring him in.

Kuzma is part of the TSN crowd indirectly. He tends to share a lot of the same thinking mentality as the rest of them there.
You are bang on about him not watching the Comets a lot. I pretty well watched every game and didn't see anything obvious about poor play. He had good games and bad games.
Cull mentioned he is still working on his D the same as everyone on the team but it snowballed from there.

Fair points - thanks!
This makes me so hungry to start digging back into roster questions like these!!
