On the surface, it doesn't really appear that way. I'd be curious to see what Risto does outside of Buffalo though. He may fare better away from there. It's not like Barrie excelled in Toronto, so he could end up being an upgrade for the Leafs anyway.

Sticking to rumours my sources are hearing once again Malkin wants to be the man and can be heading to Chicago and is still contingent only if the Hawks were to trade both Kane snd Toews. The most likely outcome however is Malkin will run it back one last time next year with the Pens. After next season the Pens are rumoured to be in rebuild mode and will be looking to shave salary leading to Malkin being left unprotected in the expansion draft so Seattle can draft him and FINALLY FINALLY Malkin can be THE MAN !!!!

only trade involving Risto with the leafs ended last summer, i would have taken Kadri for Risto and I would have retained some of Risto's salary for good measure. that would fixed the sabres 2nd line center problem and I would have had not problem with Risto playing in the division b/c Kadri is just as nasty as Risto can be.

Don't really see this trade being the one that makes the Sabres that much better, kinda looks like the ROR deal. I like Johnsson and Kerfoot but they aren't going to be tipping the scales for the Sabres. Kerfoot is not a 2nd line centre and Johnsson is a bit of a question mark.

Sabres need a legit 2nd line centre and some solid goaltending (which is partially luck based) and I think they'll be very good.
