Are you down to reviewing the team janitor yet?

I think Luff has played his last game in a Kings jersey. He'll likely hit waivers after training camp, and I won't be sad if another team takes him. He's not a NHL-caliber player.

After next season, Luff might be the team janitor.

I look forward to Ben comments on these poll results in the next weekly recap.

What is a realistic goals and total points estimate for Gabe Vilardi if he plays a full 82 games with the big club next year?

I think Luff is an interchangeable piece of the puzzle.

He can eat up bottom-6 minutes, but still needs to be sheltered from heavier competition.

I think you can find a lot of guys like this floating around the NHL, and can be replaced/upgraded if need be.

Give him a change to earn a spot in camp, and see if he can run with it.

If not, no harm/no foul.

Off topic, but this interview with Yanetti all but confirms that their choice for the #2 pick will come down to Byfield or Stutzle, just in case anyone feared that they might reach for someone else.

Thanks for posting this.

“Looking at the second overall pick, we have two guys really in mind for that pick,” he said.

My dream scenario sees Melnyk enamored with Byfield, and he overpays to move up one spot. Eugene is just the type of maniac to do that.

You're welcome. The quotes that stood out the most to me were:

"We’re getting to pick between two elite players."

Obviously, even if he considered Drysdale, Rossi and Perfetti to be "elite," he would've said that they were getting to pick between 3, 4 or even 5 elite players, not just 2.

"There is going to be a lot of work that has to be done to separate the player [that they end up ranking #2 on their list]," Yanetti added. "I would be surprised if there were more than five or six teams that didn't have the same two guys ranked #2 and #3."

We know who nearly everyone else has ranked #2 and #3, so this basically confirms that it's the same two players that they have ranked there. Of course, he then gets a little coy, maybe suspecting that he said too much, but it's too late.
