A few other important dates that of course could change:

- The League is expecting the Stanley Cup Finals to be finished by no later than October 2nd
Ad

- Free Agency would start a week after that so tentatively October 9th

- Currently the NHL Draft is set for October 6th

This brings a whole new and exciting meaning to the phrase “Is it October yet?”

Haha yup, I love the entertainment that the off-season brings with trades, drafting, and free agency just as much as I love watching the game. This October will be a very exciting time to be a hockey a fan. Also Sean listing the dates like he did in the blog made it hard for me not to quote

Either that or if the season winds up being half a year they will only have a month or two to fall completely out of playoff contention after going on a massive tear to start the year

Any idea of times? I know the time slots but if the oil play early am or noon games I’m going to be screwed and miss all the games cause of work. I really hope they alternate times and I get to watch some...

Jokes aside, for the seven teams that aren't playing at all it will be curious to see what the next season holds for them. Those teams will have had no game action or team play for 9 months.

No word yet but my guess would be trying to ensure each team gets a morning, afternoon and evening game. You can bet the league will be looking at TV revenues by team to try and figure out which games will give them the highest ratings.

On NHL radio they said the early and late games each day will be for the play in series, and the middle games would be the round robin games for the teams that already qualified for the playoffs.
