This topic comes up at different times by different writers and media outlets. You want something you can't have so an article is written decreeing all that is bad with the public not having this info.

What reasoning do you provide that you/the public need this info? You note that the public may make decisions on buying the NHL package, but do you really think a significant or even noteworthy amount of people are basing that upon the availability of one player?

How is public interest being served by knowing these details?

Well, it certainly impacts the gambling community to know what the reason is.

As a fan, all I want is a timetable. If he's gonna be out for 2-3 weeks, then tell me it's 2-3 weeks. If it's day-to-day, then tell me it's day-to-day. I don't think that's unreasonable.

But if all you get is "LBI", that could be anything from an ankle contusion to a broken knee, and as a fan, I'd like to know which one it is.

Entitled media and fans thinking they have a "right" to anything. You have no right to other peoples private information.

No. There is no right to know. The players have right to have their personal health information protected. Not even just the right but it is required. I'm sure you've heard of HIPAA by now...

No YOU don’t Jay. Don’t claim WE & speak for others with this preposterous crap you are trying to purvey. It’s none of your business or ours & only the players can opt to discuss it if they choose to.

As for gambling who cares it’s why it’s called gambling.

Along this thought process, isn’t it possible to have privacy but yet be informative? For example, teams must report:

Reason
3 designation options
1. personal reasons
2. illness
3. injury

And

Timeline
3 options
1. under evaluation (7 day maximum)
2. estimated timeframe (eg. 4-6 weeks)
3. out indefinitely

Players can specify the specifics if they wish, but no other info is truly relevant to the general public. People can be respectful and not ask.

Although during Covid19, it might not work.

Really bad take man....you have rights granted to you by god and affirmed by the constitution.

Dont remember " the right to know why crosby left practice" being one of them

These players dont work for you. It's none of your business what's wrong. As a fan it's not my business to know what's wrong. Just support the players who are on the ice .

You got this one way wrong.

Players agreed to be in the public spotlight - not to give up ALL their privacy rights. If you can provide a single reason for disclosure that could legitimately supersede their privacy rights, I'd be happy to listen. Sadly, this article does not provide such reasoning.

Instead of sounding well reasoned and considerate, you came off as whiny, entitled, and arrogant.

I think the less we feed the panic porn aficionados about things like this the better, especially with a 99.7% survival rate.

Amazed by peoples' angry defense of their right to be kept in the dark about something they are being asked to pay for.
