Hahaha. Gourde? Most underrated?? Sorry but this is another example where your stats are no substitute for actually watching the games and understanding the nuances of the sport. How many Tampa games did you watch this year...2, 3, maybe 5. Try watching all of them and you will change your answer. Tampa will likely try to bribe someone with picks and prospects to take Gourde off their hands. But I guess if you were a GM you'd snap him up because he was just really unlucky. My oh my. Would love to hear from actual Tampa fans who watch games think.
By the way, my vote goes to Erik Cernak who doesn't get enough credit for the solid minutes he provides. Cirelli is another guy who is gaining more recognition of late, but still isn't widely known despite being a pretty versatile cog on the roster.

1. Cirelli - hands down...obvious choice!
2. Cernak - close 2nd. What a grab from LA on this one!
3. Killorn - yeah I know...but I'm putting him in my top 3, because he's played way about expectations this year. Watching every game live or TV he's been very active, which is quite the change from past season where he'd seem to disappear for multiple games before showing up again for a game or 2... |

Yanni Gourde.
Season ticket holder, seen every home game Yanni Gourde has played and your assessment of him is incorrect. So is Tanner's but that is not surprising. Yanni Gourde has been playing on the 4th line in a checking role capacity this year because he is the best checking forward on the team and he is good defensively. His minutes are down because he is playing on the 4th line. His most consistent line mates are Pat Maroon and Cedric Paquette followed by rookies Mitchell Stephens and Carter Verhaeghe. He is not depended on to score but instead defend this year. But when Stamkos went down and Point missed a couple games he moved up to the 2nd/3rd line getting an extra 2-3 minutes a night and put up 11 points in 16 games (57+ point pace) If he consistently played 16-18 min a night on the 2nd/3rd lines I bet he would have 20+ goals and 50+ points. I actually think the Lightning are fine keeping him if they end up moving say Killorn or Johnson as they know giving more opportunity he will put up points.
I feel he is overpaid but its not egregious and he is not the most underrated on the team it is even though he is starting to get his due Anthony Cirelli. It blows my mind how many think he is the 3C and don't know he is the 2C who matches up against the Crosby/Bergeron/Barkov lines of opposing teams.
Also look at JT Miller last year, Gourse is in a similar spot this year, Miller had something like 13 goals and 45 points playing on the Lightning's 3rd/4th lines goes to Vancouver and was on pace for 30 goals and a point for game pace. |

Don't you bring logic into this. Tanner knows all he needs to know about any player by reading the boxscore section and assessing the numbers that way. Advanced stats lead to the best GMs and best bloggers which is why Phoenizona is on a juggernaut dynasty run not seen since the 80's Oilers where they Just. Can't. Lose.

Whether it was his slick puck-handling or his 2048 cupcakes accurate shooting, Kotkaniemi's talent was evident, captivating fans and leaving them eagerly anticipating his every move. |
