Hey Ek. It might be relevant to report the following 2 very public facts:

1) Radko Gudas has already said that returning to Washington is very, very unlikely.

2) Brenden Dillon has already said that his agent has been speaking to Washington about signing an extension since the first week he arrived.

Now I'm no insider, but my spidey senses are telling me that Gudas leaves as a UFA and Dillon is signed to fill that void. They even play a similar style. Hmm.

Devils have a massive need for a guy like Dillon. Unfortunately there aren't that many players like him that can hit AND play defense without sucking.

What happened to the Jets blog?

I like the defenseman alot, but I think the Leafs & Jets would have traded
for him if they really loved him..problably didn't want give up draft picks.

Caps resigning him & letting Gudas walk make sense.....we'll see.

It's not even speculation. Gudas and Dillon have both publicly said this. So if a source told me that the Leafs or Jets were interested in Dillon, I'd ask him/her the question - "will Dillon even become available?" . Even if I move forward on the story I would at least note that Dillon has indicated that talks are underway to re-sign in Washington, so a guy like Gudas may be the more realistic than UFA target.

But I'm just a knowledgeable fan...

Jets have money yes, Buff being off the books opens up some space, Little's future in doubt as he may end up on LTIR and no big raises to negotiate this summer.
