1. Buyout carter Hutton, and trade for anti raanta. If you look at the stats between Hutton and Ullmark it’s easy to think that if it weren’t for Hutton the sabres would at least be playing right now if not contending for a wild card spot in a normal year. Yotes are up against the cap and raanta could probably be had for a bargain.

2. Use their cap space to take advantage of teams without it like the Yotes, Canucks, leafs, isles etc. There’s likely some middle six players or decent D on these teams that make market value money but these teams can’t even afford to keep that.

3. I would sign mikael granlund for your 2C. He’s still young and probably the best C available on the free agent market which is a better option to explore than trading the very few assets they have for another teams 2nd C. They just need a stop gap until cozens is ready and in the mean time a playmaker like granlund could pair up nicely with skinner

Hire a Director of Hockey Ops to keep the Pegulas from screwing everything up. Then hire a GM who has clout and intelligence (Hextall?). Trade Ristolainen (finally) and a prospect like Mittlestadt along with Okposo’s salary to Anaheim for Ryan Getzlaf and a solid 3/4 defenseman.

Bring back the Latvian Locomotive. Use Murrency and Botcoin to improve the team. They call him Snipeshow around the parts needs to be traded and so does Samson Reinhart. For 5 premium pieces.

2) To fill the void from Ristolainen, try to sign Krug as a UFA. Since Krug is highly likely to just sign in Boston, well then just back up the brinks truck for Cody Ceci.

With massive raises coming for Hughes, petterson, while retaining toffoli, markstrom, and tanev this year. Everyone on Calgary is already locked up long term and the ones that aren’t will be a squeeze if we look to improve our current roster this off-season which I’m assuming Calgary doesn’t.

I agree with some others. Keep the Pegulas from messing with the team and hire a director of player personnel as well as a president of hockey ops to keep them in check and to properly administer to the team.
