I always had the impression that recchi was not the biggest Sid fan (some comments he made about sid early in his career) but Mario feels some obligation to recchi. Do you see the pens creating a job for recchi? I also thought that gonchar did not really want to be on the coaching staff and be on the road due to the age of his kids. Is it possible he goes back to the original job he accepted with the pens?
Could they create a yet to exist job for GMJR? Will Sullivan let reirden (or whoever they hire) run the PP? Or will it still really be sully running it regardless of who they hire? |

If you can get Reirden, that'd be great. I wonder if he has any salty feelings towards the Penguins with how that Bylsma/Shero firing was handled. I think he could be a big asset for the team.
The goalie market is going to be a long one all offseason. I would bet a lot of teams wait it out until Free Agency to see if they can sign a goalie without giving up any assets. I'd imagine some teams miss out and then the market gets set. Could be a long time holding Murray/Jarry before someone bites.
McCann is tough. He is a useful player, but is just so invisible at times despite his speed. If he wants the $3-$3.5M that has been rumored, I'm not sure we can afford that. Maybe a short term 2 year deal? |

The Islanders puck placement, retrieval and cycling is impressive.

Missed the Flyers/Isle game. Turned it on at the best part....Isle congratulating their goalie on the win. |

Man I really love the “Islanders really aren’t that good” rhetoric coming out of the fancy stat crowd. |

What could we get for mccan? Think he’s trying to get a pic and be a part of the draft? Murray + Mccan for a 1st? |

I doubt JR's looking for a pick unless he's planning on flipping it. I doubt those two get a first. Maybe a 3rd and a 2nd at best, IMO. I think JR said that he is looking for a 3C, so my guess is he'll try to work out a trade possibly involving one or both of those players and maybe a 2nd. |

I can't help but appreciate them. I want the Pens to emulate them. |

They are definitely well-coached. A bunch of hard-working non-star players. |

That McCann and Bjugstad trade seemed like such a steal a year ago. Now it's more picks including a 2nd potentially wasted. I wish we were keeping McCann even just going with a 1 year deal but doesn't look like that's happening. |

If the goaltedning holds up, they're a dangerous team. They can play you anyway you want: speed, physical, grinding, etc. Also, I think Anders Lee is the most underappreciated player in the NHL. |

Here’s one for you all, now I just preface by saying I don’t watch many Calgary games but how is Murray for Sam Bennett.
Has the pedigree, and I know he’s struggled but seemed to having *small* coming out in the playoffs. Maybe someone to gamble on. Would seem to line up with Calgary need and equal value. |

Lee plays like a star in my eyes, just doesnt ever get talked about. He's had a 40, 34 and two 25+ goal season. Brazal is star'ish to me too. Kind of like Aho in Carolina, these guys play in ways that should be talked about more.

If he's not the most he's definitely up there. Really like his game. I looked him up last night and didnt realize he was already 30. |

We'd be better off with McCann over Bennett. Bennett is one of those players with all the tools, but just never met expectations. He gets thrown around the lineup much like McCann, but can't seem to stick anywhere.

Yeah he spent 3 years in college at Notre Dame so he broke into the league late 21 years old. With Wunder kids breaking into the league at like age 18 it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that some of these guys wait until they’re actually adults before cracking a roster. |

Why trade Murray for something we already have? I know the rumors are they are testing the market for him, but if he's the same price then they can ATTEMPT to move Murray for a need. |

Yeah he's only 24, 6'1, 201 pounds and a natural centre. I think if Murray on an expired contract can get you this guy you go for it.

Traditionally players didn't really start their NHL careers until between 20 - 22.

If JR wants to get a little bigger and more physical, then sure, why not, but McCann IMO is a better all-around player with more offense. |
