So far, it's gone exactly as I predicted. Here's the rest of my prediction for the top 10:
#5: Drysdale
#6: Perfetti
#7: Raymond
#8: Holtz
After that it's anyone's guess. |

I figured Ottawa would go for the forward/defense tandem. If they pass on Drysdale then I'm sure Anaheim will be ecstatic. |

Byfield is going to squash Rossi in the corners. It's going to be like Malkin or Getzlaf going up against Drouin or Domi. Buh bye. Detroit should have accepted LA's offer of Cal Peterson, Turcotte, and a 2nd. If you add Mantha we would add Alex Iafallo, who is a King. |

I mean I'm not as knowledgeable on Detroit as I am on the Kings but I can't see Detroit dropping 2 spots at the top of the 1st round to move up 5 toward the back half of the 1st, I would think they'd need more than that to swap. |

Solid pick. In fact, too solid, since I was hoping Rossi would slide to Buffalo at 8.
He's called "small" by many, but is really just "short". He certainly does not play small; he'll be in the NHL before most in this class. (That point is not a good reason to select him, but it's clearly an ancillary benefit for a team like the Wings, or the Sabres.) |

don't (frank) this up Spatso.....Ottawa DOES NOT need Drysdale |

Re: Feds offer
For the record Anaheim would approve this trade and take Rossi with the 4th overall.
Great trade for Anaheim.
To Anaheim
4OA
32OA
To Detroit
6OA
27OA - optimus-reim
That's an awful trade for Detroit....you're right, the ducks would be all over that

I filed my selection with Jan yesterday at 5:00 pm. But, I can't say who got picked.

Trade I’m sure would include something additional from Anaheim and only makes sense if the target Detroit wants at 4 isn’t there and they feel their next option is available at 6.
In reality I expect them to take Perfetti at 4. |

You are correct that Anaheim adds something. The trade ideas were more just to consider options that should be available. |

Yeah that’s more or less just the basis of a trade with Anaheim. More would be included obviously. |

that makes more sense......if it was just picks for picks, wings would be getting fleeced. |

Yeah I just wanted some ideas in my post because even though we aren’t actually doing trades in this mock draft I want it to be fun and have some good conversation especially since some of the early picks are pretty predictable. |

for the record though, i think Perfetti would have been a better pick. i like Rossi, but he plays on a STACKED team in Ottawa. Perfetti was as good, and didn't have the insane supporting cast that Rossi had.
i think both players are great, i just think that Perfetti will be the better NHL player. |

I like both a lot and will be happy with either. At 4 though I ultimately went with the guy more likely to be a center in the NHL. I do think they take Perfetti because of the connection he has to Draper. |

I am surprised there were so many no votes on the Rossi pick, he's a great pick for Detroit
if they pass him up over size they are out of their minds |

this draft is nuts, after the top 3 there is literally a group of about 6 players who could all go at any position in the top 10. the guy picked at 9 could easily end up being better than the guy picked at 4. that's why i want Ottawa to pick for position rather than BPA at 5, because there won't be a clear BPA |

I just wonder what Ottawa thinks of the goalie
if they love the goalie, do they take him at 5? and then use their late first rounder and all their seconds to try and trade up again?
Ottawa is the most intriguing team in this draft |

zero chance they take the goalie at 5.....if they do i'll throw something at my TV.
if they want him, i could see them packaging the isles pick and another asset to move up and grab him. |
