Yes Barclay Goodrow got a first round pick, but let's put that in some context. Once you can acknowledge that not all first round picks are created equal and dive into the numbers, the return isn't nearly as impressive. SJ traded Goodrow and the 85th overall pick in this upcoming draft for the 30th or 31st pending the results of the finals. So at the end of the day they move up 55 draft spots. Not a bad return by any stretch, but not major prize the poll would make it out to be.
Brenden Dillon on the other hand garnered the 55th overall pick, PLUS a top 100 pick in next years' draft.
So the question posed in the poll is a little disingenuous but people see first round pick and they ignore the rest of the deal. |
