We can only pray this is true- although we still need major defensive help. |

I’m told there’s a “glitch” with the FLA/PIT trade. It was definitely in progress. We will see if it gets worked out.

Just remember Hörnqvist is 33yo, makes $5.3M, slow and has no passing skills. VERY good in front of the net and that's about it. He was a good Penguin 2 years ago. |

And can be bought out pretty easily compared to Matheson. |

Panthers def missing someone willing to go to the front of the net, battle and cause some disruption. Does he do that?
I agree with you on the age and price, but if he still has the skills around the front and can produce, it would be nice to have. |

Hornqvist has a full NTC. Maybe he didn't waive? I would have thought that Rutherford would have cleared that with him before starting trade negotiations with the Panthers. |

I agree. It seems odd that the NTC would come up now - potentially nixing the deal - when I thought that stuff was usually discussed with a player prior to a trade. |

This would be a massive win for Florida if it is a straight up trade. Hornquist is the way better player on the better contract. |

Good to hear. I’ve never paid too close attention to him/his playing style. But that is one of the many missing ingredients of this team: they rarely get traffic in front or have someone that can plant themselves there and knows how to work in that space. |

He's an intense guy who will keep the young guys honest in the gym. What doesn't make sense is that the pens will have 9 rostered D on 1-way contracts totaling nearly 29M..... |

Assuming both players do not make a big impact, the winner of any trade is the team that ditched the long term high cap hit. So if this trade is actually official, its a win for the Panthers |

The good: Hörnqvist will give you a lot of net crashing and be a pest around the goalie and agitate. He’ll be vocal. That’s the thing he’s good at. Decent checker but could be better.
The bad: he has below average hands, low speed and doesn’t create anything for others. Don’t expect him to try entrances in the offensive zones, get break aways or give and go plays.
Usually guys that play like him breaks down earlier in their careers. Horny has been 2 years removed from his best hockey.

We’ll probably trade a couple d-men or buy out a guy like Jack Johnson. At least we hope. |

Awesome they got it done. Sceviour is very good on the pk, but they already have many who could take his place in the lineup. Hornqvist will be a welcome addition to FL, they could use a guy like him. Main thing is getting rid of Matheson’s contract!
Hopefully Math can turn things around in a new place. He looked like the real deal his first couple of years.
Go Zito! Off to a good start |
