At best, DC has a long shot at being a cap clearing trade sweetener. |

Unfortunately MDC does not add anything more than a warm body. I would move on and try and get Wahlstrom in the lineup soon. Looks like Bellows could be in the MDC calibre too. Wahlstrom better be a top six player down the road. At least I am hoping. Also do not trade Pulock for anything, seems like his name keeps coming up. |

I don't think it would be enticing any GM to take a bad contract by adding a bad draft pick

Sometimes an organization sees potential and takes a risk. That's about the best the Islanders can hope for, some team accepts DC in lieu of a second or 3rd round pick.

This would be amazing if true but I doubt Wahlstrom is ready for first line duty. Also AA is a tremendous skater but not a team player. Boychuk adds leadership and grit when he is healthy. However, I like the idea. I would have the complete top six in my keeper, lol but I think I have to wait for Wahlstrom to develop.

AA will become a team player if he becomes and Islander and Trotz coaches him. Can always keep Eberle on top line till Wahlstrom ready and put Wahlstrom on 3rd line and give Wahlstrom first unit PP time and hope by years end he ready for top line mins. |

Yeah the Wings just traded For an elder statesmen on d in Staal. I don’t think they are looking for a Grandfather pairing on D. I too don’t think Wahlstrom is gonna make his NHL debut on the first line.

I guess you missed Athanasiou getting traded at the deadline to Edmonton for two 2nd round picks. Not sure the Oilers would want Boychuck with their cap situation.
I would hope Yzerman would want way more than MDC to take on 2 years of Boychuck. They got a 2nd round pick for 1 year of Staal so i'm guessing a 1st round pick in 2021 with no lottery protection |

I 100% did
Yes Stall set the bar on what it would take to get rid of JB contract. |

JB will only cost 1.25 of actual salary (signing bonus already paid out of 2.75 mil) to a team that trades for him but will cost 4 million next season of actual money.
Ottawa might be a better trade partner for someone like Boychuck with their cheap owner who likes paying a lot less actual money than the cap floor but they wouldn't do it for free either. They would also have the room on defense for him and probably could use him as a leader since they could lose Borowiecki and Hainsey off their defense.
If the Wings get another dman it needs to be an offensive guy since they pretty much only have Hronek and the rest are mostly stay at home types that don't produce much offense. |

Boychuk isn't getting traded IMO for a few reasons. 1. they actually like him in the room a lot. 2. he is pretty much untradeable at that contract number. 3. He is definetely one of the contracts they will be exposing to the expansion draft next year (along with Ladd, Leo, Cal, etc. and probably a few we will not be happy about. 4. I think he still has a NMC and just bought a lovely home in GC.

As I understand it, 3 and 4 cannot both be true. In other words, if he as a NMC, then he cannot be exposed to the draft. I actually think that his NMC was in effect during the first few years of his contract, but then it changed to a modified NTC, so I believe he CAN be exposed to the upcoming draft.
Otherwise, I agree with your post. |

I also think that you can sell a home on Long Island. Never heard of any law saying you couldn't. |
