Funny you mention Parise, I was curious how much farther would the Isles have gone if they did close that Ladd for Parise deal? |

It is painful to see that MN didn’t get it done with him. He’s a heart and soul guy, etc. i do believe he could be a fantastic “piece” for a contender if you can make the numbers work |

hopefully, and it looks right so far that he made a good pick with Seider last season. hopefully Seider can come up and make some kind of impact this season.
For, this years draft picking at 4 you expect the guy unless its Askarov to be up here soon too. I think they pick Perfetti. |

It certainly feels like it could go that way. The ONLY thing that makes me wonder about Perfetti is the “wall of silence” during availabilities. Yzerman didn’t do any back and forth on the calls with CP, and even turned his camera off. I have some theories on why, but with Rossi Yzerman was much more engaged. Was very similar with Seider. Lots of good dialogue. The more he talks, the most interesting it gets. That is only a theory and not fact. |

Stevie can afford to step back and wait for the cap strapped teams to become more desperate and come to him with the offers. His trade with NYR seemed a little early but I think NYR told him they might come to him first with the next deal if Stevie gave them some breathing room now.

It is such a nice position to be in. Sit and wait. The rat race is picking up and foolish decisions may well be on the docket for desperate teams |

I think the Yotes are ripe for some foolishness. Maybe JR at the helm of the Pens ship is ready to gamble....again. Toronto wants more space to sign AP, they can pick up Dubinski's contract. But even though the Leafs have money, maybe the COVID recession is affecting even their spending......

That’s hilarious. However, in 3 separate interviews with Perfetti it was the same. Not with Rossi. Lots of back and forth. For sure, that could be the case every time. I have a feeling it is a little more indicative though. Rossi may have different “maturities” in some areas, but time will tell |

The Yotes problem is that they are without picks due to the league ruling as well as trades. I saw a recent report that, though ownership has deep pockets, there is an appetite to greatly reduce expenditures. I’m a little surprised by that, but I guess that’s “business”. |

Maybe Yzerman didn't like the comments Perfetti made about coaching.
"He coaches a pro style and he’s playing the new style of hockey,” Perfetti said. “A lot of coaches are stuck in their olden ways, kind of chip pucks in and crash and bang, play hard, and you have to play within this structure to a T. Whereas with Chris, as long as you’re within this structure, he gives you leeway to make plays, be your own player and have a brain. Be creative and have fun.
“I think that’s really allowed me to flourish. I think if I was under a head coach where I had to dump the puck in every time I got over the red line and get on the forecheck, it would be frustrating and I wouldn’t be able to express how I really am as a player. We play fast and off the rush and as long as we’re within the system, filling in for one another and making sure we’re in good spots, we’re allowed to be creative.”
I can understand that a skilled player doesn't want to dump and chase. I could see how the comment i highlighted might cause a GM to wonder if that kid is going to have a problem. If the coach asks him to play a solid 2 way game, is he just going to want to float on the defensive end to try and put up more points? If they have a coach with a strict system is he going to buy in or butt heads with the coach because that is not how he wants to play? Is he a player that would be willing to sacrifice his stats for the sake of the team like Yzerman, Zetterberg and Datsyuk did?
Those are things that popped into my head when i read these comments from Perfetti. Maybe i'm just reading too much into it but i don't think Rossi would have any of these issues at all. |

Who was Pitts first round defenseman? - ChrisMS
I assume he means Letang who was a 3rd round pick. Maybe Maatta? The only others during that time were forgettable/regrettable: Ryan Whitney, Simon Despres, Joe Morrow, and Derrick Pouliot. |

Good write up and points. You are right too, Yzerman you can tell does his work and has contingency plans. The Wings are very lucky to have him. |

The first part there with the Yotes and Pens I think is true. I think Detroit could be a facilitator between the two. Pens could use all of Stepan, Demers and Grabner but both teams are in cap hell. Those are one year deals so could be a Staal like value for them. |

One of my favorite players of all-time. I can't help but root for him in his new role. |

That's true - I shouldn't have lumped him in under that heading. But I think the tenor of the blogger's statement was that these players were a core part of the Cup runs for their respective teams. I guess Whitney was in a very tangential way. |

He'll soon realize that all that space and time he has in juniors to make those plays will disappear once he turns pro. If you can hold onto the puck, great, but you see tons of players who flourish with it in juniors for them to never make it. |
