You know the saying, when you have 2 starting goalies you don't have one? It doesn't work the other way
When you have 2 trash goalies, you still have 2 |

Am I missing something? San Jose must really be high on Donato because I don't understand why they would acquire a goalie who looks to be more of the same, especially with the many options available to them this off-season. Dubnyk's "stock", like Jones, has fallen off precipitously since signing his deal after a few stellar seasons. I guess they like flipping the coin before each game . . . Heads or tails. Which goalie will suck less tonight?! |

Maybe it's taking Dubnyk to get something else? I got no clue. It's an odd acquisition, that's for sure.
My off the wall prediction is Brent Burns gets traded this off season. |

...why not just offer a 2nd and 3rd for Matt Murray, even after his bad season he is still better than Dubnyk and much younger... |

You can't convince me that a UFA goalie would not be better then Dubnyk for any asset |

If they are offering back a high pick, Jones has to be going the other way, no? Just makes zero sense at face value. |

Rumours are the sharks want to tandem Jones and Dubnyk

Apparently, the Sharks are not "all in" for this year. Having said that, Dubnyk has played some amazing hockey in the past; with the right move, he could return to form given the chance. |

Doug Wilson is a better GM than you. It makes sense because they can't yet buy out Jones if he's really bad, and he didn't earn his contract by being terrible early on.. so bringing in a veteran they can run out there for 50 games on an expiring contract isn't the worst play. Donato fills the need for inexpensive middle-six forward. The team is so top heavy they need guys to fill out the roster who actually belong in the league. If the Wild were to retain some salary, I can easily see the sharks sending a 2nd rounder and possibly even their first depending on Dubnyk's cap hit. The window for the Sharks closes in 3-4 years when they'll be forced to do one of those 5-7 year rebuilds and whomever they pick this year is unlikely to contribute much in these next couple years. Furthermore, if Dubnyk plays well but the sharks are out of contention come playoff time he can be flipped for a pick at the deadline. |
