It was only a few years ago I remember OEL was on par with Hedman. Obviously Hedman has blossomed and OEL has been stuck or regressing. I don’t really know, haven’t watched much of him. Not sure if he is on the decline or just need a change of scenery. The term on his contract is a bit scary.

It looks like Krug is out the door, and I like the thought of OEL coming in at the right cost. Overall it appears to be an upgrade. OEL is a top pairing guy, and play in all situations. Not often a top pairing defenceman comes available on the trade market.

A McAvoy/OEL top pairing? Oh heck yeah! Get the 'yotes to keep $1.5M - $2M of his salary and I'm in.

I’m not sure what the return would be, if ARI can eat that on the salary and take John Moore in the deal, even better.

I’d imagine the cost would be something like;
Vaak and a pick

Give them rights to Krug, Zboril, Senyshyn, Moore, and 2021 2nd.

Nah, sign JD to a bridge deal, he can play opposite Laine...don't forget we are getting him too.

Oh we're getting Laine?! Nice! More overhyped poop that no shows in the post season. GO B's!

I don't understand the OEL hype at all...just what the Bruins don't need- another small physically overmatched defenceman. Why not keep Krug if that's the case...not a fan of giving up assets for OEL. We need a defenceman that's tough to play against and a scoring top 6 winger with some jam that isn't afraid to drive the net and get some gritty goals- see Mike Hoffman.

At least he's 6' and 200+...granted, I would rather we get Petrangelo but that's not happening (or is it? ).

Since when is 6-2 - 200lbs small?
Sure he's no Hedman, but certainly a step up on Tory Krug at 5-9 and 186 lbs

Well truth be told, compared to half of our d-men he's a beast but compared to Cup winning teams he's average (size wise). I still think he is a fairly good overall improvement over Krug.

I think people are really underestimating OEL. If he ends up in Boston playing with Mcavoy and running PP1, I’d put a lot of money on him out scoring Krug

He’s been the best player on the worst team for a decade. Coming to Boston and being the 5/6th best player would do wonders for him

I think Gryz is the better choice to run the 1PP unit. OEL is going to produce (if history is any indication) 5 on 5 where we have been lacking for several years now.

OEL can score for a dman which is awesome. Had some 20+ goal seasons. What I really like is this would help Mccavoy to play with someone other than Chara. Mccavoy could take some risks and blossom with a guy beside him like OEL. When Mccavoy can free wheel he’s dangerous and he gains confidence by the shift. Sky is the limit for him in the right situation.

They would have potential to be one of the best pairs in the league. I agree that there needs to be some money retained but I’m all in on trading for him. The cost will be less than people think too, he’s basically said he wants to play in Boston lol

Guess we will know by Friday if OEL is coming here. He has set a deadline that if Arizona wants to move him to Boston or Vancouver it must be no later than Friday or he's staying put.

Not really true. 6"0-6"3 is pretty standard. Outside of Hedman and Parayko...

If the Bruins bring in OEL, without trading Carlo or Gryz. The Bruins will have one of the best defensive units in the league. They are arguably already top 5 IMO.

You sign Chara for another year to kill penalties and play third pairing minutes.

Charlie - OEL
Carlo - Gryz
Chara - Whichever young kid isnt traded. Lauzon Clifton Vaak

I am all in. Also out on Taylor Hall. Give me hoffman or Marchessault.

Or Taffoli (who they should have gone after at the trade deadline).
