Seems there were a few surprises as far as players not being given qualifying offers. Perhaps with financial uncertainty of covid-times teams are wanting to avoid leaving any deals in the hands of an arbitrator.
Wonder if the rumor has TML trying to trade for Weegar, or planning to present an offer sheet to him. I’d hate to see Weegar leave, but who knows what Zito (the wizzard?) may have in mind.
Pietrangelo would be great, but the contract amount & especially a 7yr term would worry me greatly.
One of Dads or Hoff still may wind up re-signed, probably more likely to be Dadonov. Maybe no one blows Hoff away with a crazy offer and he’ll circle back to Panthers.

I really don’t know what to expect from Zito. He definitely seems to have a step by step plan in mind. Hopefully he keeps pleasantly surprising us, lol. And does even more to earn the nickname...

Verhaeghe got 9 goals on a Stanley cup team in about 50 games so he will probable get like 10 on this team.
Weenberg must be something special if we sigh him to a 1 year deal
Hornquist got 17 goals playing with Crosby and Malkin so he’s good for about 12 here.

Can someone tell me how we are going replace the 54 goals Hoffman and Dadanov totaled?

Finish things out with Duclair, Martin for some forward toughness and maybe either Cousins.
On defense, Tanev, Hamonic or Ceci will do since I know we ain’t in on Krug or Pietranglo.

I wish for once we didn’t always fill holes with like 3/5 average at best guys and were in a position where 1 stud came to town.

Zito took steps to start to change the wussyfooted nature of this team. He added players that will help cut down the GA. Lack of forward depth has been a problem, Zito added to it today. All (except Gudas) are one or two year deals. They still have room to re-sign Weegar, and try to add (or keep) a top 6 winger. Now if only he can move Stralman’s contract, or find a deal for Yandle, they’d free up a nice chunk of change to play with.

Pysyk and toninato are gone and hunt i think but still quite a few panthers that are going to end up holding out too long and the cap is going to be gone whichever team they are hoping to snag
