I never understood why we don't see that kind of thing more often; players taking a huge discount to try to load up a serious contender. I get that they have to think about paying for their children's college and the more money you make the more you spend, but the name on the cup is priceless.

Per Dreger Burky has reupped for 2 years at 4.9 AAV. Glad he's going to be back but that's a mil more than I might have liked and maybe a year or two shorter.

I like the Burky signing as well, I think he will command a ton more on his next deal if he keeps playing like he did last year. Avs will have Mack to re-sign a year after Burkys deal expires so hopefully he will be open to a more team friendly deal if all goes well.
