you guys will love this kid, if he stays healthy could easily be a 30 goal scorer with an edge to his game. i will miss him, was a player i really liked here. but because of dubas and his mismanagement with contracts we have no choice but to trade him to fix other area's ..

AJ is fast as hell, and should slide in nicely on your third line. Not much to his game beyond flying up and down the wing, but decent enough player. Low ceiling, maybe slightly overpaid, but not too bad

Zadorov sucks, we did well.

With the way the Devils roster stands right now it looks like he would probably slot in as our 2nd line LW. They are putting together a nice group of forwards between the NHL and prospects, but holy poop is our defense core still god awful.

Going in to last season our defense was really weak. Hard to believe but its gotten significantly worse.

No idea how they think they are going to replace the minutes Vatanen and Greene played with Ryan Murray and any combo of Smith, Walsh and Bahl who haven't played a second in the NHL things are going to get real bad real quick.

meh. It is what it is. I don't expect us to spend much or bolster things too much this year. Trial by fire, as they say. I have hopes Smith will be okay, especially next to Severson where he doesn't have to worry too much about cement-skates Subban getting caught, or Carrick getting beat. Murray is an upgrade over virtually everyone except maybe Severson. It's just a matter of if Subban can skate, and if Butcher and Carrick can be solid enough defensively.. and if Murray can be healthy.. and if Smith adjusts effectively to the NHL game..

Nobody giving them a free pass, especially after winning a cup. We need another defenseman real bad and Sergachev is going to make big money that they can't afford. I'd be real happy if Fitz could make a deal.

I had some hopes for Anderson, captain of team USA world Jrs in 2018 I think. But.. this is a decent move. I think we need another LW instead of RW anyway. Maybe he plays well with Hughes. Either way it gives us another option. We have a few "Andersons" in the system in Merkley, and an eventual much better Anderson in Mercer.

Yes, but we really need someone for the right side. I know we can't bank on Murray to stay healthy, but adding Sergachev gives him, plus Smith, Murray, and hopefully someday huge Bahl or long-name on the left. That's 5 guys for 3 spots. I guess if we could add a top-pair guy, you have to do it and worry about the rest later, but it's the right side we're incredibly thin at. Severson, Subban, Carrick and Walsh. I think that's it.

I’d swap Foote with johnsson. Johnsson plays LW though, wonder if he could make the swap.

I could see Holtz making the club before Foote, but that's just me.

Agreed, i don't think Foote makes the team this year out of camp. He needs to be in the AHL and just playing games, he barely played this season due to injuries. He essentially lost almost a full year of development, no reason to throw him straight into the fire. Obviously unless he lights up camp and forces the team to keep him up. I think we could see both him and Holtz in the lineup out of training camp next year though

Yup, I feel like our time to make that trade was at the draft though. No longer have any extra 1st rounders to give up, so at the very least we'd have to get creative to put a good package together.
