Arizona signed Johan Larsson so they clearly won UFA, Sean
For real though, I think he and Pitlick will make a really effective bottom-6 line alongside Crouse or even Hunt. |

Yotes had the worst series of events unfold before their eyes. If we ignore the draft, and forfeiture of draft picks, then you could argue the Sharks/Mtl/Panthers had the worst offseason.
Sharks did nothing, lost jumbo joe, and are set for another year of absolute failure.
Mtl traded away one of their most consistent scorers for a guy coming off surgery, essentially 2 years without playing good hockey. Paired with giving up a 2nd for a high priced backup, then extending him during the biggest goalie bargain UFA season I have ever witnessed, was just a mess of a deal. This was not necessary, and I still don't see how they plan on making the playoffs. Given Price/Webers age, I just don't like the makeup of this team.
Panthers are losing their two top wingers to free agency. How do they replace that? They ink Wennberg (who had a subpar season), And acquire 33 Hornqvist who is on the downswing of his great career. He will be making more money over the same term as Dadanov...... Oh, and Gudas gets 7.5M over the next 3 years. They simply got older, pricier, and gave up scoring and skill. I don't like those moves one bit.
Honerable mention Islanders. Your top 2 players are RFA's and you don't have the cap space for one of them at the moment. Something has to give. |

Reserve judgement til we see what Tampa ends up having to do to shed salary, since their preferred options aren't happening.
Also Chicago's really sucked. "Rebuilding" but not getting any futures back in trades, and letting one of their all-time greats walk for nothing; cause rebuilding teams don't need quality goaltending to insulate the young D. /s |

Wow. Nucks only bad move was not keeping Toffoli somehow. But if that means not eating it on a buy out or a sweetener that’s not to bad. But outs would hurt them when they need to pay those youngins. They avoided term to a goalie who may never repeat his best season and got a decent 1b to back up their new goalie in demko. A much better risk than betting on markstrom. |
|
|
|
If the Canucks sign Markstrom, they can't take on Schmidt's contract and they lose Demko to Seattle (or would be forced to trade him)
Markstrom wasn't signing anything without a NMC
You could argue they could have resigned Toffoli and rolled the dice with a cheap goalie instead of Holtby but no team was taking on bad contracts/dead money, so not sure how much blame can be given based in THIS offseason for an inability to free up cap space
Those terrible moves were made in years past. It's the reason Linden is gone as team president. To be clear, Linden wanted to stay the course with YOUTH and Benning sold ownership on "WINNING NOW" (ie: make the playoffs and playoff revenue) and Benning won the battle with ownership. Looking at Roussel, Beagle, Myers, Ferland (Basically all the contracts minus Loui they'd like to be rid of) |

Bunch of Cucks
Can we take a look at Evander Kane’s past and give it the same level of scrutiny
Apparently people can’t grow or change so should he really be leading the diversity alliance?

I kind of miss that guy. The crap he took on here was legendary. But then I check out his Maple Leaf blog and he is ridiculed even more up north. |

It wasn't just a one off thing and happened throughout hs and he knew what he was doing, it's not like he was a young kid and didn't know right from young
People make mistakes yes and people learn from them but it was a continuous thing and he only apologized when the court ordered him to |

Cool. He’s a free agent. Let’s bring him to Newark and have PK straighten him out.

I would spend all the money in the world to let Wayne Simmonds get his hands on that poopstain Miller for 10 minutes. |

Sorry. Edit. Consistently outscored Anderson.
Of Domi's 5 NHL seasons, his worst total is 38 points which took him 59 games. Anderson's 6 seasons deep, and has only one season with more than 30 points. So I would consider Domi to be somewhat consistent. And his 2 year contract carries far less risk. |

Cordell, your take on the Canucks is so tainted with bias in light of the Coyotes headlines. |

The thing is its 4 years ago. That puts him at 14 years old. Im pretty confident youll find something completely unacceptable in all their pasts. Not to mention makes in their teens are notoriously known to be like this. You dont think i wasnt bullied at 13-14? I was and i moved on. 2-3 years later i even ended up friends with sone of them
Not to mention this kid paid the price for what he did at the time. Past needs to be treated as the past. Its not like this is something nobody knew happened that went unpunished. At a certain point you need to move on |

Did you read the whole story before pulling the typical cAnCeL cUlTuRe ViCtIm card? Oh right, you've also been bullied at a young age so it makes you an expert on what exactly happened.
Mitchell's bully-buddy apologized to the family. They forgave him. Mitchell apologized to the media and the NHL - never to the victim or family.
You say "At a certain point you need to move on". Well, at a certain point, you need to own to your acts and do the right thing. One guy did it, the other didn't figure out a few basic things. He can now redeem himself and reach the NHL by 22 if he fixes his poop together. Or he can just find another job. He will survive just fine.

Kid was 14. I don't like the fact who he bullied was disabled, but he was 14. Give him a chance to grow and be a better person. |

I think the Canucks messed up with Toffoli but letting Markstrom walk was the right choice as he wanted money and term at his age. It was the right choice bc Demko is there and better. Holtby signing was not bad as you make it. He's there to guide and nurture Demko and is a safety mechanism.
I remember the Blues signing Elliott after he was pretty much done with his NHL career. Elliott's numbers were horrible. He was signed as a stop gap in case Bishop needed more time. Well, he played great as a 1b and had a career year. It would have been a great thing if the Blues had flipped him and got great assets in return. Instead they resigned him and traded a young Bishop for a second pick to Tampa and you know how that went. |
