I see Barzal at around 7 mill per on a two year deal. I see Boychuck being moved with a second to create the necessary space for Barzal, Martin, Schneider. This would leave about 750 to a mil in cap space. |

That would be great, but I'd say moving only a second-round pick with Boychuk is a pretty optimistic prediction. |

And you’d be correct. |

Do you think we would have to add Komarov? |

Nick Leddy, Clutterbuck, Wahlstrom and a 2nd for a 7th. No NTC/NMC on these players. |

Leddy is a damn fine D on an affordable deal. That and he’s needed now that Toews is gone.
So no.
Thus, I shall counter with Boychuk, Bellows and a 2nd for Hägg. |

Boychuk/1st/retain 1m would be a min.
Nobody is moving out 2yr cap dumps easily. |

You make it sound as if we are try to trade Ladd with a second rounder. Boychuk can still play. Granted he is a not a top four 4 guy anymore. You are trading for cap space.

Stevie sez: Clutterbuck, Hickey and a 1st for Cholowski
Then Stevie will flip Cal back to you w/ $1.75M retained for a 2nd |

If Boychuk waives his NTC to go to Detroit:
Boychuk, Wahlstrom, and a 3rd for Cholowski |

Barzal is worth more than 7M. I'd have him closer to 8.5M AAV, and if the isles only ink him to a 2 year deal, you'd better be prepared for him to walk after that. 2 years from now, the Isles have 8 guys averaging 32 years of age, most with multiple years left on their deal. Are you confident he will still want to be on the team in 2 years? I'd say no, so ink him to a 6+ year deal ASAP.
If Tyler Johnson, and Fleury, are both rumored for being traded with a 1st rd pick, no way someone takes Boychuck for a 2nd. I think he is still a good player, but this cap crunch has brought the most bizarre trade market to date. Leddy 750k retained and a 2nd would probably find a trading partner. |

This wasn't a deal with Philly, it was anybody. But since you countered why would Philly do this? Bellows is 22 and hasn't done anything. I would barely do that trade 2nd and Bellows for Haag (although it probably is a slightly better value for Philly). Having said that, in no way is it enough to take Boychuk's contract.
I realize Leddy is better, but the reason I made that proposal is because none of the players needed to agree (NTC/NMC) and it clears $9M. Otherwise a team could just offer sheet Barzal. Who would you rather have - Leddy, Clutterbuck and Walhstrom, or Barzal? |

Good point. I guess that's why they already traded Boychuk and received a 1st in return.... |
