Ben-There should be a TBD option on that poll. I’m not ready to make a call on anyone being a long term solution at any position on this roster (and amongst the prospects, too) because “long term”, to me, means 3+ years and “solution” means an adequate fill at a particular position who will contribute to a successful team. This doesn’t mean super star. Lewis was a long term solution in the bottom 6 for more than half a decade but he was no star.

As you point out, Petersen has nice NHL numbers spread out over a few years, but mediocre AHL numbers. If he gets more of a workload this year, he’s playing behind a bottom 5 roster so one might suppose his NHL numbers will start looking more like his AHL numbers. If Petersen is able to thrive and outplay his environment, then we may have found that “solution” when the rebuild (hopefully) starts translating into success in 2022/2023. But I’m “wait and see” on the guy, along with most everyone else.
