#55 would probably be better!
There were some great Wings that wore that #!!!
Tiger Williams 1985
Keith Primeau 1991-1996
Larry Murphy 1997-2001
Dmitri Bykov 2003
Niklas Kronwall 2004-2019 |

For all the shock, for all the gasping/feinting/baby-vomiting in one’s mouth when Seider’s name was called.....FRANK YEAH, baybay🥳🥳🤩🤩. Bring that shirt to the LCA, Big Guy!!!
Look, this year’s gonna be a rough one, but all the videos of Det prospects sure makes 21-22 look like a season of redemption. Would be dang nice to have a Top 2 pick in next year’s draft, and for some of the previous year’s choices start paying the rent (yeah, talking to YOU Scech, and YOU Ras, and YOU Cholo)...put on the big girl panties and anti-up!!!!!! Ship’s aboutta get real in Mo’Town!!!! |

When I was first enlisted in the Army, I was an M1 Armoured Crewman....we’d get done with firing our tank on a range or complete a Combined-Arms live-fire blowing shirt up all over the place, our senior enlisted leader (“1st Sergeant”) would come over the radio with “5 words to live by: Don’t. Frank. With. Big. Daddy.”
Put THAT over his locker!!!! |

Thanks for your service brother! My Uncle sent recordings home from Vietnam to my mom and grandparents of artillery shelling. Good grief it sounds like a nightmare! |

For sure. He’s definitely surged ahead on the list of exciting players. Whatever number he wears, it’s going to do very well! |

Tampa just signed 2 center prospects in the last 2 days, that makes 9 centers they have signed in the pipeline! Surely Stevie should go for one of those prospects if he trades for TJ or Killer. As Gerge had mentioned Barré-Boulet , he has a very slight build though, and I have not enough info on his durability. I would hope he would get Cal Foote instead, but Tampa is not about to give up the other foote, as they already gave up one!
Gonna be an interesting week! I can feel it! |

Stevie might be trying to get Hugo Strange from Tampa. He could be the stud Franchise goalie prospect we so desperately need. His numbers are very average though. But there's alot of hype around him.
Goalies are lottery tickets. Stevie has to find that stud goalie one way or the other. I like Barre-Boulet and Katchouk very much. Raddysh is too slow for my liking. But if Hugo Strange can be the next Vasy then I'd take him for sure.
Foote is sorely needed in Tampa. They're quite thin on D after Hedman, Sergachev, RMD and Cernak. I don't think he's available. |

Yes, they kept the right Foote!
A lottery ticket on a goalie could be good, (crosses fingers).
I suppose Stevie has gotten over not trusting smallish centers since the ordeal with St. Louis. He did sign Pointe, Johnson, and Barre-Boulet since then. |

I hope he stays physical. I remember how physical Jonathan Ericsson was in his younger years, then...well...I don't know what happened to him. Who knows though..in the modern NHL, they want forwards to enter the zone without fear of being laid out. Seems like every time there's a solid hit, the arm goes up and the whistle blows. The players expect it now and look right at the refs every time someone lays the body. I don't see it changing anytime soon.
I saw a clip the other day...in 1994 when the Rangers won the cup, the NHL and NBA were equal leagues. Bettman had only been at the helm for a year and hadn't honed his craft on driving away fans yet. I think his war on physical play and insistence on having as much power play time per 60 minutes as humanly possible, drove fans away from some of what was so great about the sport. |

I’m trying to remember when Ericsson started his frequent trips to the DL. I think it was around 2010. If that’s when he got the hip injury that he’s had this entire time, that pretty much derailed his physicality. I remember telling a friend that opposing forwards knew they just had to put the puck in his feet. He couldn’t manage a quick turn or be physical enough to stop the attack. We’d had Lilja at the time as well (who used to put up a heck of a good physical game) but his head injuries just shut him down. Rafalski got hurt too. It’s amazing how many players we lost after the cup in ‘08. I loved Lidistrom and Stuart. When we lost Rafalski’s point shot (very “deflectable” ) and Lilja and Ericsson, we just went bailing wire for way too long. Kronwall did everything he could on one leg for way too long. I admire the fight, but it seems like we had guys who were seriously compromised playing for way too long. |

Not signing UFA Ryan Suter in 2012 was a big miss. No player was ever going to come remotely close to replacing the retired Lidstrom.
But Suter was a legit #1 defenseman who could log big minutes and he was just entering his prime. He chose to sign in Minny and play with his BFF Parise and the rest is history. I think Holland ended up signing Carlo Colaiacovo. That was embarrassing.
I can still remember Kypreos saying "Suter to Detroit. Done deal." Shows you what he knows.
Losing Rafalski was a big loss too. I think Lidstrom only played that extra season because he didn't want to leave the Wings high and dry after Rafi suddenly retired.
Wings were once very excited about Ericsson. At the 2009 SCF Bob Mackenzie said he was a future Norris trophy winner. 🤣 Errorsson became a pylon after his injuries. Big guy with no mean streak.
Holland basically left Kronwall by himself on that defense. Smith and Kindl never panned out and became first round busts. Quality UFA defenseman didn't want to sign in Detroit because they didn't want to play for Babs.
Kronwall was the perfect 3/4 guy and he elevated his his game for a few years where you could make the argument he was a top pair D. But Holland's total inability to surround him with quality defensemen is a big reason why this team was ran into the ground. |

I remember the “summer of Suter”. Wings thought they had it and were in it until the end. Minnesota stepped up with some ridiculous money and it was “both or neither” with he and Parise. My big “miss” was Rick Nash. Before he went to NYR, Kenny had an offer of Filppula and Helm for Nash. Turned it down. They tried like crazy to get a Dman out of Vancouver, at one point “Jovo-cop” was on the radar as well. When a Dman in free agency refused to meet with Detroit because they were “cheap” and stayed in CBJ, I know times were changing. JW ended up being traded and bought out. Don’t burn bridges...

Nice article about the possibility of getting Jonathan Marchessault! Sounds good to me!

He even has Hossa's ole #81!!! - HenryHockey
4 years left at 5 mil AAV. 29 years old. Much better than Tyler Johnson. I think Yzerman had Marchessault in Tampa years ago. He went to Florida and became a goal scorer. Then Vegas took him in the Expansion draft and he kept scoring. I believe Tallon also traded Rielly Smith to Vegas at this time. You know. The GOOD Smith brother. 🤣 |
