From the last blog..I live in Ottawa, and have watched JGP a lot. He is what you all think he could be. I hoped he was the one guy we'd acquire at the deadline. He is what every team needs. He plays the right way, and has a bit of an attitude on the ice |

From the 4th period
Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello has tried to move one of Thomas Hickey or Leo Komarov – as we reported earlier in the day, a deal involving Hickey was close with Detroit earlier in the week – so it wouldn’t surprise me if he pulls something off by the time rosters are due this Tuesday by 5pm ET. |

Why would Hickey be moved now??? It makes no sense. He knows the system, will add offence, And he can play. The guy knows how to play, and could've been a top 4 in the league ( on a team I mean lol )
As for uncle Leo, I am indifferent...the guy can't score unless it's an accident...but, he's not expected or relayed on..he plays hard, isn't skilled offensively, yet contributes as a team player |

If other teams agreed with your view of Hickey and his worth he would’ve been moved way before he got injured and or immediately after he recovered. After all he was put on waivers twice and not one team took him for “free”. I agree with Komarov especially if one of or both Bellows and Wahlstrom can hold down regular spot(s) in the line up. |

He needs cap space and with the players they have coming up on Wing and d these will be the guys left out. Hickey won't see nhl time with the Isles again |

I don’t know how serious this is but it looks like Cizikas might be hurt again and if he misses anytime I’d guess it’s Komorov who would benefit from that. He’s probably play just for the PK time and he can play center. |

#Isles are still reportedly trying to move salary. If it's Thomas Hickey, that leaves them with very little depth on D. Keep an eye on the noon waiver wire to see if there are any depth D candidates the #Isles could pick up should they make a trade. |

I'd like to see if Aho can be the 7th dman. Need to find out if he can play at all. Would be nice to be able to use cheap internal options if possible. |

You’ll probably see Hickey on that waiver wire... again... |

They seem to have a ton of apprehension when it comes to aho for whatever reason. Hickey if healthy is a good 7th d man (if he’s still capable of playing at his pre waiver level) but his salary is not so wonderful. Another wacky contract when he was signed. |

See. I was right the NHL is totally racist. |

Ladd to the taxi squad, does that clear any of his cap hit? I assume it's like being in the minors |

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd like to see Czarnik and Greer stick around for a bit. By all accounts they seem to have had a very good camp and I think Czarnik may be earmarked as a Cizikas replacement after this season. |

Aho's size is not a plus. I'm thinking that is a big issue. Wilde and Bolduc have much more upside and seem to be the future. You do not want them as 7th dmen though. |

Would not mind this. Someone other than Leo to be on standby for Casey would be nice. |

Neither of them are ready to be the 7th defenseman unless they blow everyone away(I know Boduc is getting noticed but doubt to that level but who knows?). |

Yep! Better they stay in Bridge for now. Aho makes sense as a 7th right now. |

Waiver-eligible #Isles who will apparently be on the opening roster:
Leo Komarov
Ross Johnston
Michael Dal Colle
Dmytro Timashov (contract still not official)
Sebastian Aho
Could still be a trade, but likely means Bellows/Wahlstrom/Koivula start the season off the roster. |

No but JHS not getting taken is a huge surprise to me. Kid is uber talented and just thought he would put it all together this year. - nyisles7
So long as he remains his usual selfless, humble self, his chance will come. |
