Drysdale to San Diego to start seems like a no-brainer. No need to rush him to the NHL - it's not like a 19-year old d-man with no professional experience is going to make the Ducks into Cup contenders, regardless of how talented he might be and how high his ceiling might be. Get him 24 minutes a game on #1 pairing in the AHL, with maybe a short peek at some NHL time late in the season.

I’m more than happy Jamie is there... Don’t even get me started with Trevor...

Agree with Dozer. I don't understand not giving Zegras at least a 7 game look (or whatever the minimum is to not burn a year off his contract). Something must have happened in camp.

This one is mind boggling! I would like to Drysdale getting some playing time, even if its bottom pair. From my understanding his minor league isn't starting until Feb.5th...seems like a waste to not have him competing even if a small number of games to see him.

Zegras on the other hand! There is NO reason he should not be starting the season with the ducks. He could already be on the 1st line and spearheading the powerplay. To me he has nothing left to prove in the minor league. The only thing I can think of is keeping his head up. I did notice a few times he put himself in a bad position and was puck watching during quarter and semi final games. This would not go well for him in the big league but that comes with experience.

These moves makes me believe the ducks organization is ready to throw in the towel on this season, get another couple of solid picks before going for it.

Lets see what happens Thursday. The more I think about it, these could all be "cap" moves prior to the season starting.

Never mind my previous comment. The Athletic has a new article by Eric Stephens, and it explains why Drysdale and Zegras are starting the season in the minors.

BINGO! The Ducks couldn't get Zegras in under the cap and Sonny Milano has had an uninspiring training camp and is on a very short leash. If Milano starts bad, there's your spot for Zegras. As for Drysdale, he's still small. The Ducks would like him to bulk up a little, like Zegras did. A buddy talked to Getzlaf at Big Canyon about Zegras. Getz says he loves the kid! He reminds him a little of Corey Perry. Fun times ahead!
