General theme with Quinn. He clearly is no longer the flavor of the month. |

Well, you ain't wrong there.
I just hold out hope that it's not something we need to trade away top prospects to address. - Tonybere
Youre not trading top prospects for FO specialists. PLD is a future #1 center.
PS: PLD is no wizard in the dot either. |

It does look that way. But, I like the #1C we have now.
And there is still a possibility that Chytil could be that #2, IF he can manage the draws. I really just want to see this roster grow and see what it can become.
PLD will cost $5M for two seasons, and then how much to keep him? Chytil can be resigned this summer for what, $2.8?
I just see reason to stay the course. I could well be wrong (again). |

I spent the last 2 days staring at those charts Shayna did that Jan had in the last blog. I still have absolutely no (frank)ing idea what I'm looking at or what the hell they are even trying to portray. |

Well, firstly, Zib would technically still be our #1. However we would essentially have legit 1a and 1b lines.
Secondly, forget Chytil ffs. People need to stop with this Chytil pipedream. Lets not trade for a future franchise #1 because in 6-7yrs maybe this guy will become semi-decent (like Strome) when Zib and Panarin are entering the wrong side of 30.
Lets just sit here and fawn over all our draft picks. |

Ok Im being a but extreme on Chytil.
PLD is 22, Chytil 20... Mika 27. In 5 years these 2 kids will be entering their prime and Mika will be leaving it. We will potentially have successors to Mika. This is what we need. |

Absolutely zero reason for ADA to be benched for a second consecutive game over Jack Johnson.
Also, it's time to let the kids play more, learn more. There is also zero reason for Gauthier (who has looked REALLY good), Laf and Kakko to not be playing 15+ mins a night, every game. |

I agree 100%. The rubber is going to meet the road when Columbus asks for Kakko, Kravstov, or worse Miller or Laf., as part of the package for PLD, who is a 22 year franchise center, they don’t grow on trees.
Of course the Rangers, would not part with Laf, or Miller. But, I feel anyone else can be discussed in this potential deal. Wingers can always be replaced, top flight centers and dmen are hard to find.

The only thing that concerns me is the timing of Buch’s contract extension. He’s playing like a guy that deserves 5m per. |

I’m with most of you on the PLD trade, he’s exactly what this team needs right now and for the future and I would have to assume they are doing everything they can to make it happen. I think the Rangers have plenty of prospects to make it work even if they list Kakko, Laffy (obviously) and Miller as untouchables. I also don’t think they would want Strome or ADA, but think Smith could work to make the dollars even out esp since he’s owed very little this year. It would hurt but would a 2021 1st, Kravtsov, Lundqvist, and Smith be enough? I could live with it given the return. |

I think that gets us close, not sure why they want Smith though? If I were sending something it might be 2021 1st 2022 1st ADA Kravtsov Howden |

I don’t think they would want Smith either but from what I’ve been reading NYR need to send back pretty equal cap to make it work. Smith is owed very little actual salary this year before becoming a UFA which might make sense for both sides. In reality it probably would end up as Chytil or Strome though. I like your proposal too, I’m fine sending 2 1sts if it means keeping Lundqvist. |

We cant keep every prospect we own. Lundkvist is the odd man out in the right side after the way JD jumped for joy at the draft for Schneider. |

Everyone wants to trade ADA, however what makes you think CBJ wants him? They have a pretty solid defense there.
Also, whats Kravtsov done for them to settle for him?
Gotta remember, this kid IS an NHLer who is putting up solid numbers at 22 years old, PLD aint a prospect. |

I just don't understand this Ranger's organization sometimes. Gauthier is a power forward who's 6'4" 220 lbs or so, drives to the net, has scored everywhere he's played , but once again we miss use him and stick him on the 4th line where he will not prosper. I just don't like the way they handle their young players over and over again. Didn't we learn from Graves who is now an NHL defenseman with Colorado because we NEVER gave him the chance he deserved. How is Gauthier going to develop when we don't put him in the right situation to succeed? The best thing to do is just trade him for an establish play because I have no faith in them using him the right way. Something is really wrong with how this team handles young players many times and I for one can't figure it out for the life of me! So many times players have left this team to blossom on another team. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE DO THIS ALL THE TIME |

I don't think the Rangers do this all the time ( see Fox, Chytil or Howden ) but I do share a lack of understanding for the limited playing time for Gauthier. To me, the way Quinn is handling Gauthier is a bit perplexing... |
