Was great to see Brome’ get off the schnide. He’s worked so hard to prove, and improve, himself. Much deserved.
The Larkin hit almost looked like an intentional trip or slew-foot. Mantha’s response was nice to see, but as you’ve indicated before; just not enough. NHL DPS has got call dangerous/illegal hits. Gudas pulled in his shoulder so there was less “give” on impact, this ensuring maximum force. Play it back and you’ll see it’s almost like he coiled to strike. And, honestly, I’d say the same thing if it was any other player. Gudas is dirty, then cowers like C. Lemieux. Punk.
Good win, showed some guts, got some luck, notched a win into a much-needed break.
I watched on NHLTV, via Center Ice, so was able to see intermission stuff. Draper’s incredibly emotional interview leveled me. Detroit lost an unspoken icon who did so much not only for the organization, but for Russian hockey as well (sending refurbished equipment “back home” to kids/struggling programs). This loss will be felt in HockeyTown for a very long time. 🙏🏻
