I would hope to get a better LD with a trade, I think you have to spend an asset on one of the Penguins LD's or elsewhere and get 1-2yr older "place-holder" or a good young 2nd pairing guy. (he will probably be on the 1st pair the rest of this year-lol)

Ya know, if Detroit trades Nemeth or Staal they have a place for Guhle. And Guhle is cheap and has another year on his deal. We have time and space to hold him for a while. If Stevie goes with it, I am good with it! Actually the more I read about this guy, the more I believe he would be a reasonable pick-up for the Wings at this time.

Guhle - a few months from being 24 years old and hasn’t shown the ability to be an NHL regular. Hard pass for me.

A big piece is the number of expiring contracts Detroit has on defense. Staal may well be traded, Nemeth may not be back. With as shallow as we are on D prospects, I’m fine if Yzerman takes a shot here. Low risk, not giving up any picks or anything

Especially on D. College is a good atmosphere to develop, get those 4 years in, can’t get traded, can put on weight etc.

That’s it. If you decide you have to waive him and risk losing him, you didn’t really invest anything dollars wise.

Didn't see it mentioned but Guhle was sent down to the Gulls on LTIR a couple weeks ago, I don't know how long that is, but says he injured his MCL.
