Carol Schram: Canucks' Horvat, Sutter take morning skate ahead of Wed. game vs. the Jets
Crisis averted? Vancouver Canucks centres Bo Horvat and Brandon Sutter are both on the ice for the morning skate ahead of Wednesday's home game against the Winnipeg Jets. - Carol Schram
I am curious why the NHL has given Montreal an unfair advantage because two of their starting lineup tested positive for Covid. My understanding is that no one else tested positive, but they have cancelled 4 games minimum which gives Montreal an unscheduled rest period.
Could they have quarantined the 2 positive players and continued on playing? I know of a team that had 2 players test negative at the beginning of the season but the team was made to play without them. |

Yeah, it seems very odd unless they think there was further spread. But with the speed of the testing they should know definitively by now. |

The NHL is rife with corruption. Power through it, champ. |

Robots are the future.
I believe the difference Makita is that Benn/Miller were quarantined *before* joining the team. In this case, they need to wait 5-7 days for the incubation period to expire to determine if any other players are infected. Once that time passes I assume they will resume games without the potentially infected players.
It does seem odd to me that they allowed the Canucks to go ahead though. |

The officiating has never really been that consistent and I agree with those that have disdain for the regular season vs playoff officiating.
You posed an interesting question to Carol, I look forward to hearing her take. |

When Jordie Benn leaves town after the game tonight, as part of the Jets, does JT Miller move out of Benn's place? |

Sounds like Sutter was out before the main group. Makes me think he won’t go tonight |

The 2 games before he missed a game, he seemed to be favouring his arm/shoulder. Not sure if that is why he is out, but he seemed pretty banged up. |

I agree about the officiating being inconsistent, which is to be expected to some degree because they are human, and mistakes happen no matter how much we wish they didn't. Like Bettmanhatesus thinks Bettman hates us, I think there is bias by some refs towards the Canucks, as Codes linked with Auger and Burrows.
BTW the was in reference to power through it champ, it's become a condescending comment. |

Sounds like Sutter is going to slot in as 4C.
I guess Gaudette gets an opportunity at Sutters usual 3C spot and they will try to limit sutters ice time tonight |

Saying that makeup calls are a part of the fabric of the game is ridiculous. We should aspire to a higher standard than accepting that the crappy way it’s always been done should continue. “Two wrongs don’t make a right” is a saying for a reason. - Brendan Bachelor
