Great article Jeremy, I’m not surprised at all that make up calls exist. Some ref’s carried counters in their pocket during the games similar to the counters you use when counting Ball and Strikes. This way they could keep it even, so to speak.

It’s all about as ambiguous as a strike zone, isn’t it? Maybe they should hire refs like a jury selection. “Have you ever had a grievance against this team?” “Yes, they fired me”. “Ok, you can’t be a ref”. Something like that?

They gotta make a believer out of me that they are capable of producing offense in front of Greiss, or it's going to be a long few weeks, or however long Bernier will remain out. It feels so similar to last season with Howard in net, except Howard was allowing more goals and wasn't keeping them in games earlier on as often. The Preds are beatable for sure, and they showed they are capable of at least competing after the Bolts victory, but they seemed like two different teams entirely compared to the way they played in Nashville. "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it" after each goal rubs more salt in also.

I don't care if they lose tonight, I just want to see more of a consistent effort, and not leaving Greiss with zero goal support again. He knew what he was coming into here, but it can't be fun having two wins on the season at the halfway point.

Agreed. The team needs to dig deep to try and reward him for a ton of effort. Let’s see some hustle and o zone pressure

Make up calls are OK at times if a ref missed an egregious violation. It is the "even up" calls that I hate! The Bettman parity acts that destroy the game.

I'm legit concerned about Greiss and how this is going to impact him in the coming games. Even Mick was silent for a few minutes after that 4th goal was scored. One shot on goal.

Maybe the 11 F 7 D system needs to go, sit Nemeth, bring in Hirose or something. I don't even know at this point.

Man, i can’t even watch the beginning of Rocky IV any more. i loved Apollo Creed (except for those shorts in part III. Hell no)

At least they broke the goal drought, it would be nice to see Ryan heat up a bit with the deadline approaching. I was a bit of an Erne naysayer to start the season but i'm seeing why Yzerman likes the guy so much, he's still young also, only 25. I wouldn't mind keeping him around for a while, especially if Glendening is dealt, he's a good 3rd line energy player. Even nights like this when the team is playing awful, he still seems to be there giving it his all and trying to create chances.

Maybe Pickard can get some starts if he closes out the rest of this game pretty well, and I find it pretty funny that the Wings didn't score a goal until after Greiss was pulled. He's been their anti-offense for sure.

In other news, Zibanejad having another 3 goal 3 assist game. He did that like 4-5 games ago.

Rocco was excited last night, he had flash backs of playing for Little Caesars .
