Jeremy Laura: .931 can’t get it done, Wings fall 2-1 plus some financial thoughts

This Red Wings team plays much better at home and I don't get it. The arenas are mostly empty. What's the home ice advantage? I was hoping Zadina would get more steam on that 1 timer at the end.

I think it's mental. They don't believe they can win on the road and so they don't. Even when they were up by a goal vs Florida, did anyone really think we'd win that game? I didn't. Tampa literally fell asleep for 50 minutes and still won. Maybe they'll start McElsievey tomorrow? Let's hope so. Stevie should start wheeling and dealing right now.

It’s a 2 network grab. Comcast/NBC vs Disney/ABC. Both are moving everything to their subscription streams (Peacock for NBC). NBC grabbed WWE, which surprised me. It’s a cash cow. They have 50 billion YouTube views (every person in the world x 7). Disney bought Roku for TV streaming and lumped it, ESPN and Disney+. NBC dropped NBC sports. Fox Sports and entertainment was sold off in pieces. Oprah bought 12 networks and bundled them as “discovery plus”. Anti trust suits, here we come!

It’s painful. All the anti trust/monopoly efforts have gone to pot. I worked at Comcast during the NBC acquisition. It was just a massive payoff/political programs. It’s the 96 telco act in reverse

The team I thought looked good this afternoon the compete level was there and they played a game I enjoyed watching. My question is why is fippulia playing instead of svetch and where is djoos. Svetch has played okay most games he has played this year and has offensive upside that fippulia no longer can bring. Djoos as far as I am concerned has looked like one of the red wings top 3 defence men when he has played. For Dekayser and fippulia to play above these two shows me again what a terrible coach Blashill is. Now you would think Yzerman would also notice this, so is he the reason behind these stupid moves or is it Blashill.

Djoos really isn’t any good but at least he brings offensive upside.

It’s a good question. I love Djoos’s wrist shot. It’s killer. I agree on the Svech/Filppula scenario. Officially the line is “the coach plays who he wants to play”. At this point, I wonder if guys will be sat if there are trade discussions. I just don’t know. Yzerman is so quiet, better than almost any other GM at keeping it in house. I just have to shrug at this point

Gotta showcase the vets for a potential trade. True but laughable.

Was wondering if Dreiger would be a good pick-up. Re-signing Bernier for 1-2 yrs would probably be the plan. Off season will have a few goalies on the move or FA though.
I would like a big LD that will instill fear in anyone approaching the net. He would also have to posess a 100MPH slap shot as well and be under 26 yo.(sorry ZC!)

Bernier is an absolute Godsend. He’s given the club so many nights where they can play in a close game and get some confidence. I’d miss him if he left for sure
