Hello Ben, we are pretty happy with the addition of Carter to the Pens. What can you say about his game this year and his overall speed, shot and vision? Maybe you’re the right person to ask those things. I hate when someone just piss on the player they just traded away for the sake of feeling better about the trade. Thank you in advance. |

Carter is still a good complementary piece. There isn't necessarily a ton that stands out about his game now but he'll still battle hard to get to pucks/get into a good position. He does a good job using his body to protect the puck and speed isn't an issue. He has good fairly good finishing ability and most of his goals will be scored in-close.

He had surgery that finally allowed him to skate better this yr,not the player he once was obviously, but can play center or wing.he is defensively responsible and can add some extra scoring.should be a good addition to the pens, also a good veteran presence |

I wonder...if Carter wasn't traded, would the Kings have signed Iafallo? I realize the Kings had the space, but I wonder if they are operating under an internal salary budget given the rebuild, flat cap, and revenue picture.
I'll miss what Carts was. Excellent 2-way player. He was so clutch in the 2014 Cup run. Carts was the MVP of the 2014 Western Conference Finals which is still the best playoff series I've ever seen. Hope he finds some success in Pittsburg this postseason. |

I don't think the two were related. I'm sure the Kings do have an internal cap, but they're nowhere close to reaching it this year. Even though their cap hit is over $70M this season, their actual cash salary is only $50M. The $6.25M for Kovalchuk is cap only, the Kings don't have to pay him a dime of that. Then players like Kopitar, Brown, Quick, and Doughty are each making less in salary this season than their cap hits. The same is true for upcoming seasons. |

Depending on where he is playing I expect Carts could increase his scoring by 25% to 30% on a high scoring team like the Pens. Once he settles in he will be asset who won't hurt the Pens defensively either. The Kings would not have won two cups without him. |

I was surprised by the trade because I didn't think the Kings would find any team interested in him. Because of his cap hit and him not in his former form, I was happy to see him get traded. Yes he will be missed and I appreciate all he has done for the team as he played a huge part in the Kings Cups, but there was no point for him staying on the Kings. I think he will help Pitt for sure maybe on the second pp unit and 3rd line scoring. Good trade for both teams imo. |

Ben Shelley: Analyzing the Jeff Carter trade - Ben-Shelley.
Happy to see him gone, and I mean this with all respect. His past year and half have been mediocre, but before that he was Kings legacy. Watching him and Richards lift the cup twice is something never to forget. Better to close the doors here as a legend, and finish off somewhere else where he plays his now bottom 6 role with some pretty good depth players in Pitts.
It's a win for both clubs |

What's to analyze? The Kings are rebuilding, Carter Is old, And the Kings got two future prospects. Great move for L.A. |

I had Carter going to FLA with Connolly Coming back to balance out the cash and value equivalents a la a “credit default swap” kind of arrangement, with D Max Gildon going to LAK to finish off deal. Kings get a D-man to start balancing out their Center Talent Pipeline and shave ~$1.7M In AAV and the Cats get someone with a Ring in that room who has swagger and a sense of clutch and calm for a FLA team that could use it.
And instead of Carter I saw the Pens getting Sam Bennett (Chris Kunitz 2.0). Park him on Crosby’s wing and watch them cycle not to mention the amount of clutch step up these two Would have Seeing that indovidually both are playoff performers no doubt |

In what world is Sam Bennett anything like Chris Kunitz? You're out of your god damn mind to compare those two. |

Kings aren’t looking to shed cap. Salary? Sure.
