Anthony Travalgia: What is wrong with Charlie Coyle? Charlie Coyle has gone 27 games without a goal

Anthony, was Coyle really talking in the 3rd person (3rd last paragraph) or was that actually something Cassidy said (I sure hope so)?

Where's Frederic? Thought he was ready to return? Sit Coyle for a game or two, maybe that will get his head out of his arse...

I can deal with him not scoring but he hasn't been bringing anything else from his normal game. He's not hard on the puck anymore, he's turning it over easily now. Need him and Pasta to get their mojo back if we have any hope for the playoffs.

I'd like to know which game Coyle was watching of himself that showed him playing physical?? I haven't seen it all year. He's the biggest waste of a 6'3" frame as I've seen in the league. I think when Sweeney signed him to that big contract it was wishful thinking he still had some growth potential to his game to eventually take that 2nd line center spot once Krech moved on...that's pretty much backfired. This year Coyle hasn't shown enough to be a good 3rd line center. It's a shame- he played with such piss and vinegar when he first came over. Not sure where that game's gone...but we sure as hell could use it.

looking at the 7th player candidates, very few players have exceeded expectations. i could see voting for Frederick, or Swayman, Richie started of as one of the best forwards, but has come back to earth. I mean, has anyone else exceeded expecatons? Carlo is a force when playing, but I feel that was expected.

With so many players underachieving maybe the coach should look in the mirror.

you gotta wonder if the message is getting stale, that said, they just had spend 5 days locked in a hotel in Buffalo, before heading to Pittsburg. I mean, it sounds like 3rd circle of hell. Cant leave the hotel, its gotta wear some people down.

Never really got the "7th player" award idea. What that name means to me is who is the guy that's not a regular in the lineup that performed best when called upon. In that case, it is Swayman hands down.
But it seems the award is really the "above expectations award" in which case, to me it would still be Swayman. A case could be made for Frederic as well but I think Swayman is it.

Personally, I don't think Swayman has played enough to be the 7th Player. Give him another 5 games or so and if he plays well then yes. Otherwise I'd have to go with Ritchie. He has fallen off a bit, but I expected literally nothing from him this year.

Probably would go Craig Smith to be honest. He has been pretty solid and is providing grit and scoring to the 2nd line.
