What a disappointing season, I wish Sutter was coaching at the start of the season. I think Gaudreau will be traded, not sure what the market value would be though. |

Almost a month ago, I expected WPG to be fighting for 1st in the North, not fighting to get into the playoffs. They are potentially 4 losses away from being passed by Calgary. Mind you, Calgary would need to win all 6 games for that to happen, but it does make this a must win for WPG. A WPG win tonight cements their playoffs if I am not mistaken. VAN would tie them in points, but lose the tie breaker. |

So, another key point, is that the Flames need to stay out of the penalty box and win the special teams battles. |

I’m starting to think we should be keeping Johnny, I think Sutter can turn him into a better player all around.
I feel we should be trading for a true #1 center all costs. Johnny deserves to play with a great centerman. |

I wonder if WPG would consider swapping Monahan for PLD? Monahan helps them win now, while Wheeler is still effective. His age lines up with Scheifele and Connor. PLD is more of a future win for them. Do they have enough patience to wait for PLD? |

If they can trade Backlund this off season I’d jump at it. He earns too much for what he contributes.
Like to see them sign Ryan again,2 years -1.5/
Who’s everyone like for the draft this year? Can’t believe Calgary and Vegas are the only 2 teams without a top 2 pick in any draft.
Looch waives his contract. Man I’m glad we got rid of Neal.
And the Seattle Krakan take from the Calgary Flames——————-?
Oliver Kylington! Yes? No?
Flames should sign Ritchie in the off season, he’s a perfect Sutter player.
Who’s going to backup Markstrom next year? Any ideas?
So some are thinking that Treliving is this sly GM hiding Mathew Phillips in the minors so Seattle skips over him. Is he really that smart? Is Phillips that good?

I wanted pld when he was rumoured out of Columbus. I don’t think Winnipeg trades him, his dad is with the Moose. |

Right, forgot about that. I know we were in on him when traded, but WPG offered a really good (seemed that way) package. Laine is now 4th line fodder. He's going to LA probably.

I'd try to trade Gaudreau to Buffalo, not for Eichel, but for their 1st round pick. Same logic applies to teams in California & Arizona, any crap team. Gives us cost control & a high pick. |

Lots to digest.
Backlund is producing for what he is being paid. He's right on par with every other season he has played, and doing that with Lucic is a plus. Where I have an issue is that he floats a lot, seems like he is barely trying. Might have to do with being #3C, but we can't pay for that type of player especially if he is on the 3rd line.
Lucic is fine right now. Producing better and provides toughness and policing. Costs too much, but whatever.
I think Kylington makes the most sense to pick, but they could go after Ryan. Not the smartest move, but he's a great player to use for the next 3 years. Kylington is a better long term player to get. More risk/reward.
Ritchie is a poor-man's Lucic. Not the greatest hands, but sticks up for the team. He could improve his numbers, but he might be a low risk player to have as a 14th F.
There will be a number of backup options available this summer. Since Sutter rides one goalie, it's not as important to have a 1B. I don't agree so much, but $6m is a lot to tie up on one player, not l;eaving a lot for a 1B.
Phillips might be being hidden by BT, but really he's not what Sutter wants. If we keep Johnny, Mangiapane and Dube, there isn't a lot of room for another small player. He is a RHS, which is something we lack, but Sutter doesn't care. |

That's quite the post. I agree on trading Backlund, fair to say he'll throw wrenches at Zary's development. Maybe Backlund to California/SW for a second or quality winger. Monahan should get traded for a winger, if we manage to draft a quality center. Then you run with #1C Lindy- #2C 2021 1st round C - #3 Zary - #4C Ryan & you hope none of them have Bennett's attitude, character, & entitlement problems.
Ryan - agree as well, great fit on the 3rd/4th lines vs Backlund who's more of a #2/3C - which runs this team into trouble time and again |

Kuznetsov for Monahan?... If the Flames are too bro-like, that's one way to insert controversy into the line up..
Odds are, they'll want to ship Monahan out east, far away, and maybe a Swedish player.. |

Lots to digest. I would look at trading away Backs, JG, Gio, and SM. If you have to eat a ton of salary to get better picks then do it. As a bunch of teams up are up against the cap wall this could be a good strategy. Three years of high picks, ensuring you get a 1C and a 1D and we should be in good shape.
I see this as being much less painful than another 5 years of maybe making playoffs. |

4-0.
Started flat footed.
Season on the line.
We all knew this team was done a month or two ago... but this is sad. How on earth do you come out flat if "anything is possible" as Chucky said the other day?
There's a lot of wrong on this team right now, and Treliving will need to clean up that locker room this summer. |

no, PLD is entering his prime years, the hope would be to lock him up long term, not trade him for a guy 1-2 years away from UFA.
wheeler is done and our him and our coach need to realize it and reduce his minutes and let him ride out his over paid contract on the third line.
the Jets have connor, ehlers, morrisey, Shief, Helly, lowry all locked up long term, get PLD in that boat. and let Heinola, Samberg, Perfetti, Gustafson play to develop with that core. wheelrer is a passenger now not a focal point |

as a Jets fan i agree this is best course of action for your team and with some already really good prospects on the team and in the system, it wouldn't be a long re build at all. continuing with JG and SM make no sense to me |

I look at the Red Wings who just traded away Mantha. IMO, that's how you do it. Embrace to full rebuild and make sure you have the right people in place to do it. If I was Murray Edwards, I'd be talking to John Davidson and see if he'd be interested in coming in as President. He has experience at a couple of places doing full rebuild, plus he has a connection to Calgary so maybe he'd be interested. |

Getting nothing for Brodie hurt. Flames are not in a place where they can let top D walk for nothing.
I think bringing in Davidson is a great idea. |

Treliving should have pulled a Detroit at the trade deadline then. Ownerships not going to embrace a full rebuild with him running the show. We’ve gone 7 years and we’re not close to being a contender.
I love the idea of Davidson, Flames should be all over that. |

Brodie hurt but we used that $ and replaced him with Tanev. I’d much rather have Tanev than Brodie. |
