At end of last thread posted what's below and was on point for Carol's new blog.
Honest assessment by TT and gross miscalculation by management. The JV debacle further stains it. Tryamkin handling shows same pattern.
Green has no extension likely because FA is looking at cleaning house. But like the last purge the replacements won't be liked either by those inclined to hate.
Either way, in a stepback season, one even the haters saw coming, there are pieces here to be competitive.
A lot depends on off season moves and if they are the wrong ones then the Canucks will be on the Sabers path and not the Avs one. |

Carol, any idea why Hoglander wasn't put out for the hat trick attempt? Anyone ask Green why he kept him on the bench? |

Thanks Carol!
Benning's reign has been a dumpster fire. |

Thanks Carol! Hopefully we can all move on from Benning and Green in the next week
I guess from a respect standpoint, maybe green giving edler what could be his last few games as a canuck. But I agree, edler should come out and the kids should be playing these remaining games - Codes1087
I wonder if Edler has quietly told management he's done after this season. He doesn't seem to be enjoying himself out there (though who is?), and think he's aware enough that he's not the defender he used to be. |

I didn't hear anything on that particular play, but Green has spoken generally about how Hoglander is still learning the defensive side of the game. I assumed Green just didn't want to risk any kind of implosion at the end of what had been a heartening win.

Thanks Carol.
Not being able to get Gadj or Lockie into the lineup because of using up all the recalls, has to be the final straw for anyone of Bennings supporters.
The guy is a complete idiot. |

This could be true, along with the fact he is 1 goal shy of 100, so he won't be sitting unless he gets that 100th. |

I am not necessarily a Benning supporter, but does the recalls not have more to do with the injuries and covid than Benning ? Not sure I could be wrong though. |

Benning says he needs 2 more years. Linden was right all along. Aquaman f'd up the program. |

Whether it was injuries or not, they could have used emergency recall.
What was the point in bringing up Gadjovich and Lockwood if they had no chance in playing. They could still be playing in Utica.
To use a recall on Michaelis(example) doesn't make sense, when they could easily have dressed 7 or 8 defensemen.

The Athletic asked an NHL exec, scout, coach, and player to rank all the playoff teams and the compiled them from best to worst into tiers. Toronto is the Canadian Division's top team at number 8... but the player had this to say:
The player: “Toronto — they’re steamrolling teams in the Canadian division. Guess what? I don’t think any of the teams in the Canadian division are good. Any of them. They have no defense. How the fuck can they win the Stanley Cup when they play no defense?… I just don’t think their forwards care enough about defense to win. I don’t know if their goalie is good enough to steal them a series. They’re good against the Canadian division. I don’t think they’re actually good.”

I hate Benning as much as the next guy, but I think this is a little out of his control. He called up Lind, Rathbone, and someone else (Highmore?) after the TDL.. all you get is three after the TDL if I remember correctly.
I think they want Gadj and Lockwood into NHL games, but if they waited until the Utica season was over they counldn't have played due to quarantine. So right now they can at least be here, working with the team, and getting ready to slot in for the last 2 games. |

I believe it is 4 non-emergency recalls after the deadline, Highmore was Gaudettes replacement. They may have recalled Juolevi, which would be 3, plus Michaelis is 4.
My point is, if you new you were going to recall some guys, why would you recall Michaelis, when you could dress extra defensemen.
Again, it is Benning not having any foresight, similar to the Luongo recapture, he just can't think past the day-by-day outlook.
Edit; here is a pretty good rundown on this topic.

Petey officially out the rest of the year, and they've confirmed it's a wrist injury. Have to imagine it was bugging him quite a bit and that could have to do with his lower than average play early in the season. |

Did they confirm he was trying to play through it, or was he just having a not so good season? |

Looking through PR Twitter, it seems it has been Rathbone, Lind, Graovac, and Michaelis. They're super thin at C with Sutter, Beags, and EP out. When they recalled Michaelis, they still had an outside chance at the playoffs, so I can't completely blame them for that.
And, just like Lockwood and Gadj, they probably wanted to see what they had in Micahelis and Graovac, and had them pegged a little higher up the "playable" list.
Edit: Can't even find Michaelis, it looks like it might have been Breisbios that was the other recall |

They didn't, that's an assumption on my part. He did leave part way through a practice, with no particular event identified as what might have caused it that day or in the previous game, that's why I suspect it may have been building. |
