Anthony Travalgia: Looking ahead to the New York Islanders
The Bruins and Islanders will kick off their second-round series Saturday night at TD Garden.

Isles weren’t down two-0 In their series. They won the first game. They were never down two games at any point agains the pens.
Should be a fun series.

GO BRUINS! don’t let NYI’s clog-it-up BS slow the perfection line down.

here’s to hoping for a COL/BOS final. dunno if that’s how it’ll work out (we could potentially see one another in round 3 instead), but i’d love to see the two best lines in hockey go at it for (most likely) 7 games for the cup.

—Prediction for round 2—

Boston wins 4-3

Colorado wins 4-2

Bolts win 4-1 (sorry canes, but your showing against a crap nashville team made me lose hope in a team i otherwise thought would go super far)

Winnipeg wins 4-2 over the leafs (if the latter doesn’t sh!t the bed again today)

…regardless, best of luck bruins! rooting for you.

I love when people say this it makes me realize you have no idea what you’re talking about along with this blogger due to the Bruins employing pretty much the same system . The Bruins will counter our “boring-yet effective” defensive scheme with their “boring-yet effective” defensive scheme .

Welcome to the for the most part low scoring NHL playoffs folks.

1) i’m an avalanche fan first and foremost; 2) putting words into my mouth isn’t a reasonable argument - i never said boring (or effective for that matter, which is not an assertion that NYI are ineffective just to be clear, only that i never used either of those terms).

Regular Season Goals For / Goals Against:

Avalanche- 197 / 133
Boston - 168 / 136
NYI - 156 / 128

…seems to me NYI scored the least while likewise giving up the least of those three.

Granted, the Islanders have scored more goals than the Bruins over the course of the first round, so can’t take away anything from them there. Barry Trotz is easily one of the best coaches in the league, and the Islanders are a good team, obviously. But my main point of the original post was i’d like to see the two best lines in hockey go at it, whether in round 3 or round 4. NYI do not have one of the best lines in hockey, and if you believe they do, more power to you for being wrong.

I never said the islanders have one of the best first lines in hockey though they did before Lee went out with injury. You’re using a 12 goal differential over a course of a season to validate your position. That’s pretty funny. Whatever man just keep going like you know what you’re talking about. Also, it was also directed at the blogger who I now know doesn’t know what kind of system the team he blogs for plays in the playoffs

i was going to mention that, along with the total goals scored over the past four seasons since the guy seemingly wrote off the 12-goal differential from just this season (if anyone’s interested, it’s Boston 924 and NYI 840). moreover, boston closed it out in five games whereas it took the isles six (i.e. 60 mins and 5 additional goals while boston and the avs were resting up).

don’t think any of that would’ve made a difference to him. clearly in his mind everyone is mindless about the sport but him, so whatever. GO BRUINS!

This Islanders team reminds me of the Guy Boucher Senators. Boring and bland as (frank). No one cares about NYI, and nobody should. Complete afterthought. Bruins in 4.
