To me, the biggest reason to be excited about Seider isn't necessarily the individual awards or accolades, but the fact that his actual underlying numbers as best we can tell (points per 60, shot share) were also exceptional during his rookie SHL season.

Clearly he plays a visually impressive game that eye test guys drool over, but early indications suggest he's got good stat nerd credentials too.

Yes, he's still to play a single NHL game yet and the team he'll be joining is, shall we say, a less than conducive environment for strong production. We'll have to see how he continues to develop and adjust. But I am optimistic that he's going to be pretty good, pretty quickly.

I really hope they give him some space and minutes. Like you said, the eye test works for sure. It’s interesting because you’re the first to chime in on some symmetry stats/vs observation. This feels like some sort of peace treaty betwixt the old and new school.

Rough estimate using NHLe projects Seider at 33 points per 82 games in the NHL next season.

I suspect it'll be lower though, because Detroit. Especially if it takes him a good chunk of the season to unseat Filip "I Take All My Shots from 60 Feet Out" Hronek from PP1.

We definitely need help, but I think you can develop a stud C outside of the top 3. My favorite current all around center is Bergeron. Especially in this draft, top 3 is all over the map. Whoever did the best/most accurate projections off of last year’s scouting will probably get some steals.

Mo-hitz Sieder will be a blast to watch! Maybe da Wings get Edvinsson to play the left side. Power goes to BS or the Krack (drool, drool). Just want the Wings to get that big net front clearing D-man to be on the ice when Seider is not.

Yeah 25 points is probably the baseline for a solid season.

Seider is a good start but this team has along way to go

I guess the saving grace is Blashill is still the coach so finishing last is never out of the question.

Of course Brayden Point is the perfect example of it (Datsyuk or Zetterberg are also examples) but you need to get very lucky for that. I guess this draft could have more top end players later in the draft given the limited games a lot of kids got (some none at all).

I'm big on center Fyodor Svetchkov that might still be there for the Caps pick. His stats in Russia aren't the best but he had no help at all from the rest of his team for offense. At the U18 he had 4 goals, 10 points in 7 games. It does worry me that Craig Button said after his showing at the U18 he would have him in his top 10 for this draft when his previous rankings didn't even have him at all.

Drafting in the top 1-2-3 has probably passed. We're getting better and unlikely to remain in the bottom. But good luck in a lottery is still possible.

That said, you can still find a 1C out of the top 3. You have to get pretty lucky, but it's possible. Some of the current guys include Kopitar, Giroux, Couture, O'Reilly, Point, Barzal, Aho. I believe all of them were outside the top 10. Don't quote me. Just basing on memory. None are at McDavid/Matthews/Crosby/Malkin levels, but all very good 1Cs. Some obviously past their prime, whereas others still getting better.

Take a look at St. Louis cup team. Fabbri (21st) Thomas (20th) and Schenn (5th) were first round. O’Reilly was selected 33rd. No centers picked higher than 5th
