Dahliwal pointed out not to expect an announcement of Edlers return before the E Draft. Rick also was all over the map about the cost of bringing him back. A few days ago he said it won't be a home town discount today he said it has to be a discount.
Daniel will be on SN650 I think around 1 or 1.15 |

750k to edler on a 1 year deal or walk away.
I dont want him back at all, but I can see why he wants to come back, and why Benning would entertain it. |

Then just walk away
I look at what Spezza said and did and see absolutely no difference in player situations other than their positions. |

Carol Schram: Daniel and Henrik Sedin return to the Canucks as special advisors
After three years of retirement, Daniel and Henrik Sedin officially announced their return to the NHL on Wednesday, signing on as special advisors to Vancouver Canucks' general manager Jim Benning. - Carol Schram
I like the idea of adding the Sedins, those 2 are/were exceptional hockey player that I believe will have a positive impact on the team.
I am not concerned about them have specific defined positions within management as they will be overwhelmed with learning the nuances and processes of managing players, salaries, drafting, etc. |

It is not like he needs the extra money. I think it will be around 1.5 . I think the twins will be a big influence with him being around his best friend and wanting to go all the way with one team.
Plus the idea of packing up for one year and then moving back the following year. I think it is pretty much a done deal of one more year .

Thanks Carol.
I expect Edler will be back and I expect some fans will expect him to be on the 3rd pairing, yet will be upset when Edler still has to play 22 minutes per game, because of issues on the backend.

Because they canucks have no other options though. It's not as though he would be there by choice if we had suitable players who could properly play the top 4. |

The Canucks need to take emotion and feelings out of all business decisions. I'm sure he can still play one more year, but anything more than 950k and bottom pairing minutes doesn't make sense.
We all complain about the same D year in and year out, but now they are talking to Hamonic and Edler, while Schmidt, Myers, Hughes, Rathbone are all but garunteed to be back as well. If edler and hamonic come back, what is the change on D? |

Why? - VanHockeyGuy
I'm talking about last year and edler playing top 4. If the canucks had top 4 dmen the last few years, edler would have been a bottom pairing Dman. He's old and slow, it's just the canucks have been a tire fire in defense for years. |

I don't think you are going to see Hamonic here next year.
I can see Canucks looking into a Myers for OEL swap (Did not say I approve it) . Benn is not coming back , Looks like OJ is on the way out.
I don't really care one way or the other if Edler comes back or not if it is cheap.

I would be thrilled if the Canucks added at least 3 new defensemen. Not OEL, at this stage of the rebuild.

I never understood the infatuation on OEL and his bad contract.
