Nice Hank, well thought out. I think the Sabres trade down depending on the pieces coming back from a Eichel trade. |

I don’t mind the proposals, but here’s my issue. You clearly see little to no difference between Power and the other 3 or 4 top prospects, so why would these other teams? Why would the Ducks suddenly give up Zegras and Drysdale (when they don’t want to include either right now) for Eichel and the ability to just move up 2 spots for a prospect who may not even be better than they’d get at 3? Just playing devil’s advocate, nice blog.

Outside perspective,
I thought the Seattle and NJ deals were fair, can’t see the Ducks or Blue Jackers doing the other two.
This years, there just isn’t much difference in value between 1-5. Some draft ranking actually have Powers down around 3-6 range, as an example.
In regards to Eichel, I think the best deal for Buffalo might end up being Vegas. Take any of their high priced forwards (they are all decent and none are really a cap dump but Vegas would have to move out some salary) get Cody Glass, Hague, their first rounder and 1-2 other lower picks or prospects. |

That Seattle trade isn't worth it. We don't need the space, and we only save a million compared to burying him in the minors |

"I think there is a solid chance that Seattle really likes Matty Beniers first overall"
gerbe would be devastated if we traded 1OA to the Kraken and they ended up with Beniers. |

"they can take William Eklund to add to a center depth chart that now boasts includes Dylan Cozens, Casey Mittelstadt and Trevor Zegras."

The ANA deal seems especially unfair. |

Think Protection List is coming into affect, and that extra draft capital Adams got at the deadline could come into play. |

There is no way CBJ give 2 - 1st round picks to move up 4 spots. Especially with no one in this draft being a generational player. At best you would get maybe the Tampa first round pick. |

Be lucky to get either one unless 3 isn't involved. |

It's moreso about satisfying the expansion requirements. Sabres don't lose Tage or Asplund while probably still getting Power if they like him |

I went into that in the piece I did for Jan a little bit more. There are bound to be GMs who love the physical gifts Power has. |

The ducks and kings have been hot and heavy for eichel the most it seems.
If you are the sabres you dont take anything less that Zegras and Drysdale + cap dump + picks.
Eichel is an elite in his prime NHL franchise Center. That is why he is worth so much. |

i get a little lost when they say that trade didn't work out well for the oilers.... they won another cup |

I understand his value perfectly. My point is if the ducks don’t want to trade Zegras OR Drysdale right now, why would moving up 2 spots in a weak draft want to make them now include both? Doesn’t make sense |

Obviously their isnt an ideal trade for Eichel.
But you dont have to give him away for nothing.
Heck, if the sabres wanted, they could RFA tag Sam for 1 year and have eichel back and see where it goes.
Trade both at the deadline if the sabres still suck |

It would be a pretty excellent marketing ploy for the Ducks: Eichel and Power.
I think fans of most teams would be stoked if their team had that offseason |

i agree there is not.. with the looming injury teams aren't going to give the kind of package like the oilers got.. |

There are a lot of lot of teams calling on Rhino, Unless something changes can't see him staying. |
