Blueger needs a new contract and then Rust, McCann, and Kapanen all have expiring contracts next year and are due for raises. Unloading Zucker will help, but it seems like a lateral move to trade zucker just to sign Saad or Tatar.

This team appears to have the worst luck with injuries or just an awful training staff, but if this team is mostly healthy, I’m ok running the same roster as last year

True! You just make fun of the Pens. Unfortunately, they have given you soooooo much material to work with the last three years. Especially in the playoffs!

I really do wonder what the reason behind not playing him was? There was a reason Ducharme didn't want him on the ice and I haven't heard one peep from the players about being disappointed in him not being out there.

I have no idea how cheap he will go but while I am not opposed to bringing him in I think the Pens have a limited number of moves they can make and they have a lot to settle before they should be looking at adding another LW.

Realistically he will come around 4-5 mill right? If you are lucky enough to shed one of Pettersson or Matheson (probably not this lucky) you get your room. I also wonder about the Riikola situation. Is he happy just practicing and making a paycheck? Does he want a trade? He seems like that type that would ask for a mutual contract termination to go back to Europe.

Combine a 15 or so game stretch to end the season with an 87 PDO or whatever and the narrative that he’s bad defensively and it’s easy to see why a coach would thinking scratching him is the right call.

The * for the Lightning is pretty weak IMO. They didnt go over the cap in the playoffs because there is no salary cap then. They didnt go over the cap during the regular season because they followed the rules to remain cap compliant.

I have no problem with what Tampa did.
