full disclosure, I had a deal with Chiefs were I was gonna trade this 1st round pick and Anthony Duclair to Islanders for Jordan Eberle, but then things kept happening to make the trade seem kinda silly, like Florida signing Duclair
then the Islanders were able to create lots of cap space and also exposed Eberle in expansion draft so trade seemed kinda silly and then Chiefs knows nothing about the draft at all, so Florida made the pick |

Seems like an overpay from the start tbh |

ultimately yeah I think it was
I was just thinking they have one more year with Barkov at a bottom basement price and wanted to get them another scoring threat, total win now mode
it was right after they bought out Yandle so I was thinking new found cap space

Regarding Goodrow, if the plan is to play him somewhere in the top 9 it’s fine. If he gets put on the 4th line and sees 9 minutes a night that’s a different story but I don’t see that happening. I think they’ll try him on the top line for a bit and see how that goes and will move down depending on how Kravtsov is playing. |

Im not gonna worry much about where in the lineup hes playing as long as his usage and minutes justify the contract. |

Maybe Goodrow will play with Lafreniere on the 3rd line, or maybe 4th line depending on match-ups. Krappo Kacko could be another linemate. Either way, Goodrow should help NYR to at least make the playoffs. I like the move! |

I think he can literally be on any line 1st to 4th depending on matchups. Hes a swiss army knife kind of player. Im curious to see if playing with Zib line or Panarin line increases his points. |

I think the Goodrow move, along with Drury's comments lately mean that Buch is on the way out. That would let the RWs be Kakko, Krav, Goodrow, Blackwell/Gauthier/Other. I don't like the Goodrow terms. While easier said then done, the successful teams have guys like this on small contracts. Buying a guy after back to back cups means you are going to be overpaying no matter what. The overpayment, if the reported is true, wouldn't be detrimental to the team going forward, but I think it would certainly be an overpayment that could complicate things down the line. |

Having said that, if this is the deal, I will be happy to be proven wrong like Brukie and Panarin |

This is what I want to see. While it may be a little steep he is exactly the type of player this team needs. He is going to be fun to watch and help
Them win. That’s all I care about |

So for 2-3 years under the flat cap it could be a bit rough however in year 4-5 i think in the long term it could become proper. |

Rangers have enough players that put up points. They have no one who plays like Goodrow |

They have plenty of depth players that can’t score. |

Point I was trying to make is… why are we comparing to an irrelevant hockey player: |

The point is Goodrow is a player NYR need. Did they pay a bit over on $/term?....yes. Does every team in NHL pay more for pieces that they need? Yes. |
