Karine Hains: Inking Kotkaniemi Marc Bergevin has done a lot so far this offseason, but he still has got at least one tricky contract to sign, Jesperi Kotkaniemi’s contract.

Merçi for the update, Karine. Hopefully MB can sign KK to a bridge under 3M, and his dad makes a full recovery.

agreed. KK will most likely step it up this season, a lot of fans are getting impatient (even though he's frickin' 21 years old lol) but the kid's got talent, he should be fine. I hope though that if MB does pull the trigger on a trade with KK included in the package that it'll be worth it and actually improves the team

Why compare KK coming off an RFA contract with minimal leverage to Armia who was a UFA that could sign with 31 other teams. Even if their on-ice contributions are comparable, the context of their contracts are totally different. I would offer KK a slight raise on his RFA deal. Certainly wouldn't commit long-term given his inconsistent play.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Columbus Blue Jackets are actively shopping Max Domi.

a year ago there was an often repeated debate as to whether the Habs should keep/trade Domi vs Danault

Didn't take long for Domi to wear out his welcome over there.

I guess other teams will start getting nervous about getting this guy.

Bridge contract: 2 years @ $ 2.25m/yr. That is fair since he has plenty to prove still.

Or, go long shot for the great contract?

6 years @ 4M.

Could be a bargain in a year or two.

I like the bridge contract....but would pay him more than most, say 2.75 per year/2 years.

Lol I know some will hate this idea, but I think reacquring Domi for the 2C postion would make sense. He'll be here just long enough to insulate KK, and I think he'll do good here again.

Domi doesn't seem like a good chemistry type.....and he gets really, really lazy for far too long of stretches, and that is just bad for an example for all. For me, Domi is an easy pass.

Other than he's out until December, I think it makes alot of sense. 1 year, 5.3 million, Colombus wants him out so he won't be too pricey and I think he'll bring more offense than Danault. Only thing that'd put me off is if he had dressing room issues before he left here.
